This will require replacement or adventurous repair, and a *much* bigger job than just doing the CV. The damage can be avoided by removing the retaining circlip out of the oil pan before knocking the CV shaft out. Small but very important step!

i already crossed that mountain. Wound up pulling the engine. Puting shaft in vise, made 2 vertical cuts in cv shaft with a diegrinder, used a torch and slide hammer to rwmove it. Then valve grinding compound with steelwool to recondition shaft so i could get the new one on. Put grease and not antiseize as the nickle in it can wear down the splines. If you buy the WIS it informs you of this problem also which i got after the fact

same here. plus with AC on it's horrible. Did you find solution?

C300 4MATIC clicking noise when turning wheel vibrations when I stop

I drive a 2010 Meecedes Benz C 300 4MATIC Luxury. I've done a lot of research and I feel like it's my CV axle or motor mounts. I took pictures and this is what I saw. Isn't this the cv axle an would it be causing those issues?

those issues?

turn right or left , if you hear pop/clicking while advancing slowly then you have cv joint problems. If at an idle stopped your dash and middle console vibrate then a motor/trans mount should be done. Will you be working on the car because I've already done all this work and it's involving

Is the vibration stronger if you do full lock left or right at a standstill? Vibration is normal when in sport mode on the motor?

W204 c200 cdi 2.1 i have the same problem

I have the same problem, after time i realised that if i put the automatic into S it completely stops the vibration, when i put it again into C it starts again, what i assume now it is from the torque converter, its only an assumption.

2008 Mercedes sS350 4 matic (w221)
Hi guys,

I have a 2008 Mercedes S 350 (W221). It has around 160,000 kilometers.

I've searched a lot on forums in English and French, each time it puts me on the wrong track, which is why I decided to post.

Since I bought it, I have noticed slight but unpleasant vibrations when stopping, in N, D or P. When i accelerate : nothing!

The engine and gearbox mounts look ok. I put the car in the diag machine, nothing suspicious detected in terms of engine operation: no problems with ignition, injection, balance, etc.

The other day, I did an interesting test: I removed the accessory belt and started it for a short while just to see, and miracle !! : zero vibrations!!!

So I thought that the crankshaft pulley was no longer performing its damping role correctly, so I changed it, but unfortunately, no difference..... I also changed the tensioner roller as well as the belt and the two guide rollers just in case, but it's always the same story...

So, my question is : does the fact that the vibrations disappear when removing the accessory belt necessarily prove that an element driven by the latter is in question? Is it possible that it comes from the steering pump even if it doesn't make any suspicious noise and seems to be working fine?

Thank you in advance for your advice,

Greetings,

Alex

You didn’t say how you determined the condition of the engine mounts by looking at them since they’re encased in a shell. That said, with an inspection mirror, look for evidence of contact between the mount and the mounting arm:

Also, w221. You’re in the w204 section, although you’re welcome to play with the cool kids.

Thank you for your reply !

So, i will investigate on engine mounts !

I'm sorry, i know that i am on the w204 section but this thread seems pro-active and in facts, the engineering between w221 and w204 is pretty close, so i allowed myself.

Regards

After you examine the engine mounts, check the A/C compressor. That depends on being mounted securely to the engine mass to damp out vibration. Check that the mounting bolts are tightened properly. When loose, the vibrations are more noticeable at idle. I don’t know how they come loose, but I have seen it on multiple brands.
