Pre warranty expiration checks?
Hey all,
I'm in year 6 of 7 of my EDW, and as you guys know, year 7/7 is a stripped down warranty (powertrain only). I'm debating whether or not I want to drop my car off at the dealer (or an indy) to have them spend an hour going over the car to have a look to see if everything's OK, and if there are any last minute warranty claims.
I know enough about cars that I think I can do this myself. I'm going to (once summer comes and right before year 6/7 expires) take a thorough look at the bushings and such and the overall suspension health (wheel play etc) and I think I can do that myself, but I'm curious what else you all would look for?
The car has been bulletproof thus far. Nothing obvious wear wise in the engine bay as well. The poly v belt is still in great condition, as are all the things I can see with my naked eye.
I'd appreciate any advice, even if it's a "hey, penguin, don't be dumb, go get it checked out".
Thanks

Thanks. Looking through the warranty work, the car received new struts and stuff in August of 2016, and the suspension was reviewed (Front) Aug 2017 and the notes indicate that the suspension all checked out. So I guess...it's sort of stupid doing this pre warranty check. Any other things worth noting that only a dealer can do (easily?). I don't have jacks and such so can't really look under the car...

On top of what the others said, I had the Fluids sampled and send away for analysis, it passed so I kept the car. The extended warreentee was so expensive, since then I could have bought 2 new engines etc, so far so good.

It seems that I can check the control arms myself.
Any idea on how to check the intake manifold for a cracked plastic rod actuator? I know where it is, what it does, and all that, but wouldn't there be signs that this is broken, other than to have a mechanic check it?
