Retrofit facelift W204 steering wheel

Hello everyone. Is it possible to retrofit the steering wheel of "Facelift W204, 2013" (see the 1st picture) with the new steering wheel of "Facelift W205, 2018"? (see the 2nd picture).
I have been told that it is possible but noone haven't tried yet because these models just came out recently.

Looking forward to see your response. Thanks.

Yes, it is possible. I've heard that. I hope that this upgrade will be available soon. To be honest on this two pictures, interior in the facelift w204 is much prettier + if you replace your screen with 10.25" (see the picture), you can really upgrade your facelift W204 model.

Let's hope that someone will show this renovation as soon as possible. Looking forward to see this.

I see no chance to make it work since it totally different inc the comunication and function with the speedometer.

I think it is possible to retrofit the steering wheel. Since steering column is new and as you know lot of people already retrofited their steering wheel from W205 on W204, than... it should work here. Maybe with some modifications or not. The main difference is that this steering wheel doesn't have pointers up-down-left-right, but it has the touch panel which works the same.

Also looking forward to see someone do this project.

Chris I'm not shure if you are right. Maybe there is also steering wheel without speedometer. Update us please ;-)

You just dont know what your talking about. There is NO W205 wheel fited to a W204...Its for example W176,W218 or W166 wheels fitted to them. Same with W205 and W213. DONT work with old cluster. Totaly different menu systems and data languages. And YES..Ive tried.

adro92 02-18-2018 02:48 PM

This is confusing, so I'm just gonna ask. Will this steering wheel work with my 2008 C180K, with stock 4 spoke wheel? http://www.ckmcardesign.se/e-klass/w...kinnperforetat
I know the lights wont work without new column, but everything else?

Chris The Swede 02-18-2018 04:00 PM

Nothing works without a new column.

Alright, what column would I need specifically for my car? Any links?
Can I just get one from bildelsbasen.se?

If I get a column and a steering wheel, can I just replace the old ones and then it works?

Maila mig istället... ;)

Chris, I know that there is no W205 wheel fitted for a W204. It must be modified to work. But if you take the steering wheel from the CLA, you don't need to modified it. Is it the same with the steering wheel from the new facelifted A-Class 2018 (see the picture)? Could we just switch?https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...6cca554606.jpg

Chris The Swede 02-18-2018 05:07 PM

No.Because this time they did the the hole W213 prooduct transfer to it. Is it just me that think that wheel looks horrible?

JohnnyC 02-18-2018 06:39 PM

I hate it too. Why is cruise control on the steering wheel? It is the least used function for me. I don't like the touch sensor either. The AMG steering wheel looks even funnier, it doesn't even circular. More oval shape than round.

I like the old curvy amg steering wheels.

Im all for facelifting cars but this wheel is just crazy ugly..What where they thinking..

Yeah, I didn't like it either and I couldn't believe that's what they fitted to the S-class for example. It just does not fit/match well.

verozomb1 02-19-2018 06:41 AM

I have facelifted W204, 2013. I was thinking to retrofit my steering wheel, that's why I was also asking these stupid questions. If I heart correctly, I cannot upgrade my steering wheel with the 2018" models, right? The newest upgrade for my vehicle would be steering wheel from W205 (non-facelifted)? Should I wait or this is the final answer? If that's correct, I won't wait but I will order this steering wheel W205 2017".

Chris The Swede 02-19-2018 06:53 AM

Yes..Final answer.. DONT order W205..Order the w205 look from the corect model like 2016 W176 or CLA.. Then you dont need to changen anything in the wheel. Just install it.

Sorry but I don't get it. If there is an option to retrofit Facelifted W204 steering wheel with the newest W205 steering wheel (with little modifications) or instead of that you take steering wheel of W176 or W117, I don't know why you couldn't retrofit with actually the same model W205, just facelifted? (of course again with modifications) ...or instead of that with the new A-class 2018 steering wheel? Noone tried, that's why I don't know how there can't be an option? Thank you.

PS.: I don't know I'm just asking you this. Thanks.

Chris The Swede 03-02-2018 08:45 AM

Thats it. Because you dont know this. Forget 2018..(And ugly as hell..) I explained this one.. DONT TRY! Waste.

As I said. Sure you can use the "bones" of a w205 wheel. But the cost to change all the electronincs when you can have the same wheel with corect electronics from a W176 for the same price than a w205 I dont see the point.
