Tire Pressure - holy batman!

I was going through some old notes from Mercedes Benz Canada. One of the biggest gripes I have had about my W204 is the shi**** suspension. WAY too firm for a drive around town. I had missed something in my notes and thought I'd share.

Quoted in blue directly from Mercedes:2008 C300 with staggered 17” tires Front: 225/45 (28psi) Rear: 245/45 (33Psi)
C300 4MATIC (up to March 2011) with staggered 17” tires Front-30psi Rear-35psi
C300 4MATIC (as of March/2011) with staggered 17” tires Front-33psi Rear 38psi
--------
I have been running 30 front and 35 rear on my 2012 C300. I believe the reason why MB hiked the tire pressure YoY is to improve the fuel economy of said cars due to government regulations. ANYWAYS, I dropped it to 29 front and 34 rear (due to temp fluctuations), and HOLY BATMAN, it feels so much better. I might grow a bigger pair of ***** and drop it to 28 front and 33 rear and see how it is. It's like this thing is riding on air suspension (ok, maybe not quite, but you get the idea).

I can't understand why 4matic C300s are told to run +2 psi front and rear given the weight increases of the 4matic system is close to nil. Thoughts?

I looked at the gas filler door on our '11 car and it shows 30F and 35R. The ride is very stiff on this car. Need to double check the actual pressure. Just picked up this car today.

Yes, this is in line with what I posted from Mercedes Benz corporate/Canada. It was 28, 33 when the W204 launched, then it went to 30, 35 up until 11, and after 2011, it became 33, 38 (like on my 2012).

I'm happily running 28 33 right now and friggin LOVE IT!

2008 C350 Sport 4Matic Swap
I pump them up to 38-40 and it reduces roll I find, handles better too and smoother on the highway.

Yeah you'll gain some benefits and lose some. The reality is with a more flobbery tire (say with mine), you'll also get additional upwards movements following a rebound as the tire bounces around. You'll get less of a rebound movement when your tire is pumped at a higher PSI like yours, but the upside of a tire with less PSI is that initial bumps will be less harsh. Can't have it all, unfortunately!
