Cabin Air Filter

I just replaced my OEM Cabin Air Filter with a Mann Frecious Plus version based on a recommendation in an on-line how-to video, Then I noticed that Mann recommends annual replacement. The maintenance manual recommends replacing the Mercedes part every 40,000 miles. Does anyone know if there really is an appreciable difference between the OEM filter and the Mann brand? I live in So. Cal. so frequent replacements probably couldn't hurt, I'm just wondering if I got hoodwinked.

Less folds in the MANN filter. That's why I stayed away from it, then again, I'm a stickler for the details. I would stick with the OEM service interval myself, but YMMV.

Mann is second best choice verses OEM filter, did mine not too long ago.

Of course, it depends on where you live. If you live in a big city, you have to replace the filter annually.

I noticed my cabin filter would not work as well after about 15K miles. So if you never wanted to have issues every 10K or year would be good. It's an easy DIY if you are agile.

I thought Mann was the OEM manufacturer? It is a German company.

Changed mine after 20k miles. It was very clean.

How did you know it was very clean? The filter is black because of the charcoal...

I am second owner of the car, I replaced mine not too long ago.
Car has around 135km when I did it, didn't look too bad, job took less than 15mn.

The MB maintenance booklet I have in PDF calls for replacing the combination filter and/or dust filter every 20,000 miles or 2 years.

Every auto maker has its own weaknesses and MB is not an exception,
despite its world brand. Each wear and tear component has its own
due dates and it can not be ignored, i have made few costly mistakes.

We're human, we're naturally too naive when it comes to taking care
our daily commute vehicles. We all must learn to make available time
and love your car and it will appreciate your attentions.

Coincidentally I just got this myself.

I am sure there isn't a significance diff. between the two (Oem verses Mann) as far as quality goes.
One would pay double of the price with the star emblem on the box with same result with Mann's half the cost.

I've been under the impression that OEM is Mann. I know this because when I removed my "non-serviceable" charcoal filter from the engine intake, the filter was clearly made by Mann.

Edgalang, MB may have used Mann Filters during productions as their own BUT thereafter, the OEM filters with star emblem on the box have been manufactured for replacement
I have seen them on Ebay (cabin air filter only) not sure for the engine air filters, hope this helps clear some doubts.

Specifically with Mann Frecious series, for some Benz model , it has right hand drive and left hand drive version.
It must be the 1 way air flow requirement, probably due to its anti bacterial coating.
If W212, Right hand drive is FP 29005/1 . Left hand drive is FP 29005.
Just in case someone with right hand drive buy one from Amazon USA.:mercy:

Not exactly an expensive or difficult part to replace. Do it yearly and call it a day. IMHO

My service booklet shows requirement for changing the combination filter every 10,000 miles or every year, whichever comes first (MY2013 C-Class)
