2008 C220 CDi Auto Shudder and Stalling when selecting D or R

Hi Guys I’m relatively new to this forum so Im hoping some of you kind folk can help me with some solutions to my problem or even just point me in the right direction.

I have had a 2008 C220 Cdi Auto for about 3 years now and just winter past I seemed to have developed a problem when on first start of the day, if i was to select drive or reverse the car who all of a sudden drop revs and stall the engine even though the car is in gear. As it seemed to happen on cold mornings I tried letting the car warm up for about 3-5 mins before selecting any gear and this definitely helped and as the warmer days came in definitely wasn’t as bad but still some revs dropping and close to stalling. I then decided to have the transmission fluid flushed and replaced and I think this also did help. So I think a combination of daily temperatures rising and having the gearbox serviced it seemed to be fine. Up until last week everything was great and then car has started doing exactly the same thing and I’m wondering as the higher daily temperatures (over 15 degrees) has anything to do with it.

Im confused as to where to go from here as I have read so many different explanations online from Torque converters, vacuum problem, water in the transmission fluid. I get the feeling it’s temperature related and would love it to be some sort of sensor issue but as there are no lights coming on the dash its so hard to pin down

If anyone has any experience of this and/or solutions or even could me in the direction to getting this solved it would be very much appreciated.

I'm having this exact same problem. I've only had the car three weeks and had to spend nearly £1000 on the gearbox already 😐

Anyone found a solution?
