Losing Transmission Fluid????
I bought a wrecked 2014 C300, just replaced front bumper/headlight etc, nothng mechanical
Before I drove it further than around the block, I checked the fluids, the trans fluid was zero on dipstick, I had to add 4 quarts so it would show full. ($100)
I drove 5-10 miles no leaks, still full. Then I just drove 300 miles now transmission dipstick is dry again. No leaks on ground.
Anyone have any ideas where I am losing fluid?

Where are you putting transmission fluid? These cars have neither a transmission dip stick nor a transmission filler so hopefully, you're not putting it in the engine....

I have not put it up on a lift, I park it in the same spot, the floor is clean and absolutely no oil anywhere. My plan is to top off the fluid and take a short drive then get under it to examine.
Regarding the dipstick, this is a 2014 model with a dipstick. I add fluid thru the dipstick tube. google A27618 (I think 2013 was the first year)

On my 2013 C350, I have a oil dipstick on the rear left side of the engine Like the previous poster, you will have to remove the bottom panels under the tranny and engine in order to see where the fluid is leaking.

Ok, if that's the case and you really are leaking in quarts, but can't see it on the ground then maybe it is falling on top of the exhaust while running and getting burned up?

Maybe it was so low that it had to get pumped to other areas like the torque converter and simply needs more fluid.
Definitely need to pull the rock guards off and see what's up. Make sure the weep hole where the engine and transmission join up is free of obstructions and hasn't been plugged up or something. I've seen people plug that hole to stop the leak only to have the bellhousing fill up with fluid. If it's not dripping onto the road, it's getting burned up or is temporarily accumulating somewhere else. If it is only leaking while you're driving you'll still see evidence of it getting splashed around on the rock guards and underbody in general. If it was getting burned up you'd be seeing some pretty significant smoke clouds. If everything's nice and dry and looks good, add more fluid and see what happens.
It's worth mentioning, you're checking the fluid level via the method outlined in the manual, right? Generally that just means the engine needs to be running and at operating temperature. Not sure if there's anything specific to this car beyond that.

Thanks everyone. A mystery for sure. Shifting did start getting hard. No smoke or burning oil smell. Yes, at operating temp when checking level. Getting 5L fluid today, will let you know the results.

Are you checking the fluid level with the car in drive or reverse? I believe you need to do that.
Also, I believe there is a red lock-cap on the tranny fluid dipstick tube that needs to be broken off to check the fluid level. Did you do this?
It sounds to me like you're adding the tranny fluid to the engine oil.

Yes, adding it to the engine oil. an extra 6 qts sure made some smoke. was lucky nothing was damaged.
Whoever put that A27618 trans fluid dipstick really messed me up.
So I flushed the motor oil and refilled, burn out all oil from the catalytic converters and engine all good.
I would still like to check the transmission fluid level, I can find the drain plug (pic in red), can Not find the fill/overfill port. Can someone help me find this? What does everyone think about this no trans dipstick/fill tube for the trans? Thanks!
trans drain plug in red, where is the fill/overfill port?

I think the 39k flush is for trans with the older, (green???) fluid.
IF someone knows for sure, please reply.

The 722.9 7-speed transmission known as 7G and used up until 2012 I believe has a 39k miles service interval. The 7G+ transmission, which uses the blue fluid, has a 70k miles service interval.
As for the transmission fluid dipstick, it was removed from the 722.9 transmissions. Why? I am not sure but probably so you can't do a fluid change at home and for you to take it to the dealership where they will charge you a kidney to get the job done. The 722.6 5-speed on my car has a dipstick and fluid changes are a breeze to get done.
