W204 Front Bumper Repair

Hey, has anyone ever repaired their front bumper on a W204 C300 4Matic Sport? Lots of scrapes and scratches on my 2013 bumper from car washes and twice barely hitting it on a curb. I will be using the SEM products and using a chip protector over the white (Arctic White 149) finish, once I repair the scrapes and dings. SEM has products for different plastics, but I don't know how to tell without taking the bumper off, to figure out what type of plastic is used? In the scrapes, I see black plastic. Is that a clue?

So, I need to know what type of plastic is used so I can get the appropriate adhesion promoter and possibly primer.

Here are the SEM numbers I might be using thus far:
39793 (heavy duty clear chip protector)
38393 (sand free adhesion promoter)
68422 (mini-max bumper repair)

I have a can of the 149 paint I found on eBay (MB can).

This seems to be an easy job and a lot less expensive than taking it to a body shop for a complete bumper patch and respray.

Thanks!!

Nick

I'm interested in hearing how this goes. Please post before/after as well as process photos if you could, when you decide to start the project.

From an associated thread on new W204 front bumpers from an aftermarket place, the plastic used might be polypropylene. I will double-check that (somehow) and post a reply. Once I begin the work, I will post the pics of before, during and after. I might even post a video on youtube, but that is TBD.

I saw a video on YouTube whereas they painted the lower center black on a white bumper. Looked pretty cool but haven't decided to try it yet.

I've just done that with Plasti dip but there's many more chips all around the bumper. You can only do so much with that design.
