Backup Camera (Sorry)
Hey all, I have a 2012 C250 Coupe... I was told to post here because no one ever goes in the coupe section..
I have searched on the backup camera installs, but all the threads are older, when it comes too electronics the newer the better, so I was wondering WHICH camera should I be buying now that its 2019.... I want to use the factory mounting location as to not take away one of the LED plate lights... I also really cant find a good write-up of how to remove the head unit... Any help would be appreciated, even just a link to a wiring/install step by step.... |

Check out Echo Master, used one for a front camera I added, go to Amazon and put it in the search.

Try to get the highest S/N you can find. My camera has low S/N around 42 dB. During the day, image is very clear, but at night the image has snow flakes (noisy)all over the place.
I will replace it when I am not lazy. |
Has anyone used the camera that is built into the trunk latch? I really don't want to lose an LED light on the plate, and this looks like it fits right in...
|
FYI, with the license plate light ones you don't lose a bulb. The camera is in a housing that holds the bulb and the camera sits under the bulb. I just installed one in my 2010. Wasn't bad. I found it a lot easier to feed the feed wire from inside past the rear seat to the trunk rather than from the trunk into the car.

You can see it is a bit dimmer on the side with the camera but there is light.

You can get this and mount it to the pre-cut location, just to the right of the right license plate light.

Very good reviews. NATIKA Backup/Front View Camera,IP69K Waterproof Great Night Vision HD and Super Wide Angle Metal OEM Style Reverse Rear View Backup Camera for Cars Pickup Trucks SUVs RVs Vans (Black) |
I bought NATIKA B075ZPNL7J for my other SUV. It is very good, no noise at night, much better than the $5 camera installed on my C. I will replace the so so camera but don't know when.

thanks, any idea where to get the housing to fit one of the precut- cutouts on the molding for aftermarket camera? i got this cam https://www.ebay.com/itm/Boyo-VTK501...72.m2749.l2649 . my model did not come with a factory camera and i am trying to fit one. also changed to an aftermarket radio since the 30 pin ipod kit has become so obsolete that i laughed at myself everytime i opened the glove compartment.
