Ticking sound when driving slow or idle

Hi,

I have a 2014 C300 4Matic, 196,000km.

I'm hearing this minor, fast ticking in my car, and it only happens when the car is not moving or if driving at very slow speeds (like when getting to a stop). When accelerating or driving at normal speeds, I don't hear it. It's really not that loud - I can't hear it when I have the A/C on

I can only hear it in the cabin... if I get out of the car, I don't hear any ticking except for the regular engine sound. It seems to be coming from the rear of the vehicle, perhaps from under the car.

Could it be the transfer case? I had some transfer case issues fixed by the dealer recently (planetary gear replaced), but I noticed this sound before.

Car was recently inspected by the dealer - everything looked good except for the planetary gear which was fixed (see attached photo).

Thanks!

Fuel pump?

Little under the rear of the car near the fuel tank, bet it's the fuel pump. Gears don't make that kind of sound. Good mechanics use a stethoscope to find noises. A piece of rubber or vinyl hose also works.

Typo, means listen. Try leaving the car off for a while the have someone turn the ignition ON but don't start the car (keep foot off the brake) so engine won't run but fuel pump should start.
