OEM oil filter manufacturer changed?

I usually purchase my OEM oil filters on eBay. My latest filter did not come in the standard sealed Mercedes box, but a cardboard box with a Mercedes sticker on it. The plastic ends have always been this pale yellow color with numbers in black ink on one end. This last one I received from eBay was a different color yellow and no numbers printed on the end. It also does not fit as snugly as the other. I complained to the seller, to no avail. He assured me the filters were directly from Mercedes. I just purchased one at my local dealer, because I feel like I was ripped off and wanted the correct filter. It came in the correct sealed box, but the filter looks like the one I got on eBay?? I am thinking maybe Mercedes is getting these made by a different manufacturer now....to save $ no doubt. Anyway was just curious if anyone else noticed this? I don't like the loose fit of the filter.

I usually buy the Mann filters and have always worked fine for me. I believe they made the OEM ones as well.

My parts guy gave me Purflux L394 as the correct OEM filter. I'd never heard of this French company, but the product has good reviews ... and one says it exactly matched the factory original filter they took out ...
