C200 W204 2009 Kompressor will not crank EIS ESL maybe?

Hi, yesterday my car engine would not start/crank/turn over.
Every else seems to work ok including radio, windows opening/closing, doors locking/unlocking.
The steering wheel unlocks/locks no problem (tested by turning left right). Makes the normal sound when key goes in/out.
In the engine fuse box I have checked every fuse for continuity and also checked every relay for coil continuity.
The console lights all come up as normal on Ignition position.
When I turn the key to start position No Crank !!
I do hear the normal fuel pump priming sound, and a click inside the Ignition Key Unit and a relay sound in the engine compartment fuse box.
(this has happened before about 3 times so far in 4 about years but would always start ok after a couple of trys )
I have uploaded a photo of the dash lights in Ignition Position.

Has anyone else had these same symptoms and found what the fix was?
thanks
(I am in Melbounre Australia so also posted in Aussie forum)

Hi
As it happens had same problem 3 weeks ago had to get it towed home, first I made sure with the key inserted the steering unlocked that proved the steering EIS is working good.
Next I charged the battery full up , still no crank.
Next jacked up removed the splash guards and checked the solenoid wire was powered when cranked with a test light , yes it was

Ordered and installed new Bosch starter, started like a charm just brilliant!

Old starter brushes totally disappeared, speedo has 125k on it.
All the best.

HI Dave, I will be getting under to check out the starter. At this stage that appears to be the most likely culprit.
cheers.

Well, It was the starter motor. The brushes were completly stuffed actually they had vanished....
Looks like time to buy a new starter. I wont do a repair on it as it looks beyond that.
Thank you Dave for your help with this.
cheers.

Hey No worries
Mine was exactly the same as yours, brushes totally gone just wires hanging in the breeze.
Mine cost $320 NZD from memory for new Bosch starter.

Funny enough started perfect right up to the moment it failed then nothing!

I am surprised there was little warning such as hard starting or noise. It just went dead. I just bought a new Bosch so will be delivered in a few days.
Thank goodness it was only the starter .
What year and model is yours?

Mine is 2008 and really thankful it was only the starer, could have been the steering lock motor which I dont think would be fixed for any where near $320.
