Mercedes HVAC Settlement
Hey guys,
I received a notice in the mail yesterday about a settlement regrading the HVAC mold smell issue. I was curious if anyone else had received this as well. I had this work done under warranty but it has been back for a couple years now but I did not want to have it done again out of warranty.
My question is, is this a real thing? I was not able to find anything when I searched this here on the forum, literally 2 posts came up when I did the search.
Looks like it originated from a place called JND Legal Administration.

I also received the mail notice a few days ago. My 2011 HVAC has been fine for nine years therefore I tossed it.

I too received that statement, I think everyone who purchased a Mercedes W204 & the dealership sent in their information got the letter.

You should always turn off your ac compressor a few miles from home. If you drive for an hour with your ac on it will be all frosted up. then when you park the ice melts and makes mold..

LOL! Doesn't the engine stay hot for a long time after you shut the engine off? I'm sure it would burn off any moisture by the time the mold could form!

It is in the heater / ac ducting that gets cold and frosted up causing moisture when it melts. If you keep your fan on with the AC compressor off (the AC button on the dash) it will blow warm air and melt and dry the system so your car doesn't smell like mildew.. This isn't easy if you live in somewhere hot because you will probably die if you turn off your AC.
