Brake light out no melted harness
I seem to have a some what unique issue.
My 2012 w204 is displaying "left rear lamp out" warning on the dash.
Fine I thought, so I replaced the globe.
Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. 1 of the 2 brake light bulbs are still not lighting up.
So I did some googling and found its common for the earth wire to melt. I'm fairly sure this is not my problem as the wires and connections look fine.
I've tried different globes, sprayed some contact cleaner and checked connections. Everything seems fine but the single light on the in the left rear light still isn't working?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks.
Is this issue common? (1 brake bulb out) it seems very strange to have just one drop out and not both in the same light.
If it is common, what are the common reasons for it to happen?
Thanks.
The overheated connector is a common problem, but the ground pin was the culprit because that pin has the highest current load. I don’t recall reading of tail lamp connector pins for individual lamps failing. If you find that the connector is the problem, applying some contact lubricant may help.
