Audio Display Screen Not Coming On - Replace with Android Display?
Hi all, back with another W204 brain teaser!
My 2010 C300's audio screen stopped working recently without any apparent cause and has gone completely dark. It doesn't even display the Mercedes logo on startup. If I put a CD in, the music plays fine, but because I can't control the screen, I don't know if the radio or Aux cables work as I can't control the unit to set it into those modes. I have the audio screen type that has the slide down cover over it.
I pulled the units out of the dash based on this video (
). The fuse in the back of the stereo control unit is not blown (as it must not be given that I can play a CD). I ordered a used audio screen off ebay, part A 2048205497, installed it and it doesn't work either!
So, I'm stumped! Does anyone know anything else that could cause the screen to not get a signal? Is it possible there is a fuse for the display screen that doesn't also power the stereo?

Did the plug to the screen show 12V on one or more of the pins, a ON/OFF 12V pin ? Basics I know but I never trust any wiring 😁
I'm wondering if I'd have success installing one of those aftermarket CarPlay screens such as the one below. I'd hate to pay for one and still have it not work, but I wonder if it would get me around the current display problem and end up being more convenient for music and navigation anyway. Does anyone have any thoughts on installing this to replace a non-functioning screen?
