Replace driver side seat button

I have a rip in my front left (drivers) seat and I want to replace it. I can find replacements I am just wondering if this is something that I can do myself and if you have any advice on doing so.

I never did it but it looks pretty straight forward if youre decent at working on things. Can replace just the cover or replace the entire bottom cushion part. Looks like most of the electrical stuff is on the bottom.

It's simple to remove the bottom seat cushion. Move the seat all the way back, fully raised, and the front tilted up as far as possible. On the underside, there are two Torx bolts (T27?) in two clamps that hold the front of the seat cushion to the frame. Remove these and pull the seat cushion forward and slightly upwards. If you have heated seats you will have to disconnect the plug for the heating element.

That certainly sounds pretty easy. I can definitely do that. Thank you.

Am I understanding correctly that the heating element is not in the actual cover? As in I don't need to specifically find a headed seat cover?

The heating element is integrated into the seat but not the seat cover so, no, you don't have to find a heated seat cover. I just took the bottom cushion to a local upholsterer who removed the old cover and replaced it with new MB-Tex. This was easier than trying to color-match the other seats.

That is very tempting. Thank you. It is weird how many seat cover options there are out there. Between color, leather/non-leather and there seem to be two seat designs 2/3 panel.

The local upholsterer charged $200 to recover the seat cushion, and it looked completely factory. You couldn't tell the difference between the new driver's side and the passenger cushion. A used seat cushion on eBay was about the same cost. This shop repairs seats for local car dealers. I would ask around in your area who the dealers use for seat repairs. It might be a little more expensive but the repair is more likely to match the original.
