P0340 code returning after replacement
I know a lot of these threads have been posted but i’m looking for some more insight to identifying the real problem , the car has no issues running once started just the delayed start, i replaced the camshaft sensor twice already and the check engine will just come and go as it chooses , the exact code given is P0340
Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit (Bank 1 or single sensor) im trying to figure what my next step is now , i’ve heard of people saying that replacing the adjustment magnets is usually the main fix would this fix my issue or could it be the electrical harness etc that is ruined ? i appreciate any help thanks

I sounds like your camshaft reluctor plate has shifted out of place or a clean signal is not reaching the ECU.
Rely on harmonic balancer marks to spin the crank pulley to position camshaft in alignment.

When you replace the CPS, be sure that it is fully seated and not tilted in the valve cover. Are you using genuine Mercedes parts or aftermarket?

1-Step closer
Did you happen to read the code with a Mercedes-specific scanner? If not, P0340 may not be the complete code.
A delayed start can be caused by problematic camshaft adjusters and the full code is P034062. I, too, replaced the camshaft sensor when the delayed start first appeared, but ended up having to replace the camshaft adjusters.

Essentially that means the ECU detects the camshaft is... rattling back and forth loosely out of timed position due to VVT being unlocked - Nice.
This jerky camshaft timing totally robs power from the engine precise timings. Having this fault repaired will make this engine strong again.
Make sure you have good oil level + viscosity grade in use when the ECU is able to tune up your engine.
We know more performance is associated with additional extra heat.
