Parking Brake Release Sticking
So I had a small issue when I brought my car in this week for a basic service to an MB specialist shop. I said ‘BTW my parking brake sticks a little, I have to pull the release a couple times to get the brake warning light to go off. Can you take a look?’
This wasn't a big concern, I thought since I was there I might as well ask. So when the service was done, they said the only fix is to replace the whole parking brake assembly. They weren't that interested, as no quote was given. I said oh well, thanks. I got curious and googled it for five minutes. Found an MB world post and youtube video. Took me a couple minutes with some WD40 and now that parking releases like a boss.
Shops are so useless these days. An MB specialist in business for 20 years, only works on Mercedes. I also asked them about an ESL emulator and acted like he’d never heard of it.

Hope you didn't actually pull the parking brake pedal assembly. You could give it some good squirts in place and it works.
I wonder if dealerships have to give the "proper answer" to questions like that, the proper answer being "Replace everything!" He coulda said, "Google is your friend." But seeing some Mercedes owners in waiting rooms, maybe the only correct answer is to replace it. I have met people who don't know how to open their hood, so Google would be alien to them.
