2013 c250 1.8 turbo stalling and random missfire

2013 c250 1.8 turbo stalling and random missfire

I have A 2013 c250 with a 1.8 turbo in it. Car will start and die after 1 second of running for about 10 times. Then the car will finally start and run but with a miss. Cut the car off and start it back up it gets better every time until it runs with no miss. I’ve ruled out cracked heads, ignition coils and plugs. On codes shown are random misfires and primary circuits high for each coil. Replaced all coils. Had a little oil in tubes but not enough to reach top of spark plugs. Soaked up what i could.

Saw something about engine swirl flaps but couldn’t find a lot about them

I have not heard of the swirl flaps causing stalling on a cold engine, but they do cause performance problems and rough idle. Maybe they are sticking on cold starts. Repairing them is a medium+ difficulty task. Here is a post about them.

There should be no oil at all in the spark plug holes. The seals around the spark plug holes have failed. The typical reason for that would be high crankcase pressure from a faulty crankcase ventilation system. The M271 EVO engine crankcase ventilation is split into two systems, one of which is in the valve cover and the other is a check valve and hose between the block and the intake.

UODATE!! pulled carpet on driver side after doing some reading. Found two rectangular blocks. One with 4 wires and one with about 20 wires plugged in it. Found corrosion in two of the plugs

Are you using a Mercedes specific obd scanner? What are the exact codes that are showing? I was thinking a vacuum line issue.



That looks like some green coolant in the reservoir. Just caught my eye.

it’s mostly random misfire sometimes knock sensor. It’s a different code every time i clear It. Turbo codes at times and even seen a throttle position code. I found Corrosion in some little box under my drivers side carpet. Two rectangular boxes one with a few plugs in it and the other has about 20.

Moisture/water getting into those connectors and corroding them can cause a constant stream of phantom errors to pop up. That seems consistent with what you describe. Try to find the source of the moisture, correct it, and clean the connectors. Then see if conditions improve. Report back with results after clearing codes and seeing what returns.

[Note on scanners: I don’t know what you have and there are a number of good ones. If you have only a code reader, allow me to suggest the Launch CReader Elite V2.0 MB. I got one 2 months ago to replace my older Autel because it was less expensive than paying for the upgrades. It’s already paid for itself times over in repair dollars saved. I have no connection to and do not receive any compensation from Launch or any of their sellers. I’m just really impressed by it.]

called Mercedes dealer and got the 3 boards for $70 and some change. Said it’d be a week or two before they make it in. Will report back then. Seems like the more i mess With the ones that are corroded the motor codes pop up. Just goi g to replace them for that price.
