Uneven tire wear

So I have a 2014 C300 sport that has staggered tire sized from front to rear. My rear tires seem to cup and wear more on the inside edge of the tire. These are directional tires I'm curious how others handle this issue? Its not terrible buying tires every now and then but they get noisy when they cup and I wonder if or how others rotate their tires or deal with the uneven wear. I did a rear subframe and 4 wheel alignment a year and a half ago so I don't think there's anything I can do mechanically to help as its all new.

Thanks in advance

How old are your shocks (in miles)?

They were replaced a year and a half ago when i replaced the rear subframe. So maybe 15K on the shocks.

Camber Problem

I had the same problem on my daughter’s C300. Alignment was done by MB and perfect in spec. Problem was spec for rear camber is I believe -1.5 degrees and no factory adjustment possible.

I purchased and installed:

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/mer...-kit-spc-28860

Then I adjusted camber to -.5 degrees. I haven’t had a problem with uneven wear since.

I have the staggered front/rear wheels. Also the tires I have on are directional. So no rotating.

I bought the car 5yrs ago and the tires were new at the time. I had to replace them last year not because of treadwear but they were cracking all along the outside which caused the car to drive horrible. The tread looked very even I didnt bother with an alignment with the new tires. Plus I doubt the tire shop i went do even knows how to do it.

If I were to get it aligned due to abnormal tire wear i would probably only take it to the MB dealer. Reading thru the manual the alignment procedures say to measure ride height, angles of the drive shafts, then all the wheel measurements.

You have a new subframe so those bushings should be fine. You can inspect the 2 bushings in the wheel carrier, for the spring control arm and for the thrust arm. Those bushings on mine are pretty well worn looking, they look expanded and cracking. But the tread wear looks good and car handles fine.

Also inspect the control arms themselves. Few of mine need to be replaced.

Thanks. I'll have to look into changing the camber on the rear to get mine too easy more even.

Over the years I've determined that both dealerships and alignment shops can't even adjust these cars properly (it's not even difficult) so I did it myself and it's the best it's ever been.

This is what i was thinking too. Im thinking get the camber adjusters for the rear and use a angle gauge and do my own adjustment.

If the tires didnt get so loud i wouldnt mind the wear.

Yeah I used to only go to the dealership but they'd usually leave my rears red / not even yellow spec

Then I went to a shop with a 100k machine and they messed it up horribly

And then I did it in my garage with the string method and it goes straight as an arrow. Literally jokes. And no more cupping issue.
