Plastic timing chain guide posts broke off. What are the options?

2014 M271 Evo 1.8l Turbo

While replacing the Valve cover, as I was wiping the head clean, I ever so slightly brushed against the plastic timing chain guide with the rag and it broke off. Luckily I got the guide before it fell in, but the little pegs that hold it in dropped straight down. Picture attached shows the part and the pegs. What are the options? Or being so small and fragile should i not worry about the pegs that fell in?

I cannot believe how brittle and delicate these things are. Thanks for the help.

Some plastics can get brittle in hot environments -- buy a new part.

@streborx Thank you, that is always sound advice. I did order those yesterday.

The big concern are the little plastic pegs that those guides use to hold them in place (I posted pictures) because they fell into the crankcase. For now I will suck the oil out from the front where they fell in and pass that oil through a strainer to see if i got the little pieces. If not, I will pour some new oil straight down where the pegs fell and hope the new oil will pick them up and come out the oil drain plug. Any thoughts on diluting the oil to make it push the little plastic pieces with more force, or maybe a safe solution of some sort?

Any other ideas, or thoughts on the matter would greatly be appreciated.

Once the pegs make their way into the oil pan, they should remain there as the oil uptake has a screen that will prevent the plugs from recirculating. Getting the pegs to fall into the oil pan is the issue, and either a mechanic or someone on this forum with more knowledge might have an idea of how best to do this. Once in the oil pan, they should come out with draining the oil via the drain plug. If not, you could use a fiber optic inspection camera to see if they're in the oil pan somewhere. A small suction hose attached to a shop-vac might help. You might see if you can suck them out from the top side if your valve cover is still off.
