W205 Discount challenge!

Random fun...think you got a good deal? Post your actual discount negotiated. Please confirm country /currency so we can do the conversion.

I'll start...
$3030.14 Canadian dollars based on dealer cost plus 5%. Dealer cost in this case is approximately 91% of list

MB-JIM 08-29-2014 06:38 PM

My last few MB's were bought utilizing the USAA discount program but I haven't seen a listing for the W205 discounts. Has anyone checked for the USAA numbers?

floridadriver 08-29-2014 06:50 PM

USAA= $500 discount (per the dealer)

I assume you are referring to the additional discount, beyond the percentage off MSRP that the USAA "fleet" discount provides.

I believe the $500, you mentioned, is the part that varies according to the supply and demand of a particular model. e.g. A current C350 has over $4K discount if you use USAA. That $500 is $2,500 on the C350.

floridadriver 08-29-2014 08:43 PM

They were able to put it in computer with USAA fleet code, and said it was only $500 in total, same as for CLA. I believe you can get $4500 on a W204. Obviously if you can work a little discount first, the $500 would be on top.

mailrup 08-29-2014 08:56 PM

I got 5% off MSRP + Fleet discount $500 USD

bazan 08-29-2014 10:11 PM

also from Canada

Jbbeauso,

I am from canada, Ontario too.. just placed an order for mine.... managed to get only 2% of MSRP... was doing this in a rush as my current C300 is due for renewal in Nov. With the high residual (67% on a 3 yr @ 18000km lease) looks like an extra 2-3 % will knock off just another $2-3K off... and probably translate to around extra $30 per month over my lease payment. I figure I will just save the negotiation till they preinspect my lease return.

In my casual conversation with the salesperson, I was told 2% as well. I wonder if there is more room at the franchise dealerships rather than the ones owned by MB Canada.

This is possible. A bit of context.. My deal was prearranged via my work employee discount program which applies at select franchise dealerships in Ontario. They wouldn't buge beyond the cost plus 5% though. Not even on the ridiculous 3k freight/pdi charges. It's stupid considering you pay the same freight for a car out of Stuttgart Germany.

skullboy 08-30-2014 12:14 PM

People who are getting 5% discount (on the C400), is this out of pure walk-in negotiation or is it because you have some sort of employee/affiliate program ?
Also, has anyone asked about the Truecar or Costco program ?

Formac 08-30-2014 12:49 PM

Managed £3196 off a £35,825 C220 build. So that's just under 9%. Not bad for UK.

SofFMike 08-30-2014 01:08 PM

I negotiated 8% as a "profession liberale" plus an additional 5% off MSRP here in France on a C220 AMG package plus many other extras. The dealership also ate the €750 lease termination fee for our E250 cabrio. Not a bad deal in my eyes....

That's crazy given that in Canada their profit margin on sticker price is around 10%

Is that the dealer margin after MB get their cut? I know we always pay more for cars in the UK.

skullboy 08-30-2014 02:47 PM

I guess people in UK and Europe can get a bigger discount because the car has been out for a few months now as compared to the US which just officially release the C class this week.

utsenmo 08-30-2014 05:50 PM

I guess it really depends on which dealer you talk to. In Mississauga corporate store, they wont budge on anything lower than msrp for new customers who are planning to get their first benz.

especially when they already have a long list of people want to get into the w205 c before their neighbor does. I think you need to be part of some program to get discounts like that 3030. That or my friend (who is the sales) was lying to me.

Maybe....You will have more negotiating power if you are flexible on your spec and you can wait until there is inventory on the lots. Try a franchise as opposed to a corporate store. Then I would try shopping one dealership against another....

CarlEightySix 08-31-2014 08:47 PM

I will wait until the beginner of the next summer to buy the C400, I think by then I can have a better deal.

a little bit of topic, I'm thinking in putting has a down payment 30k, but i been told they wont accept that much, is that true?

there is a maximum amount allowed for lease down payment.

If you are buying/financing the car, then you can pay any amount up front.

SLOW C240 09-10-2014 02:48 PM

Anyone else from the U.S care to mention their negotiated price from MRSP? I see quite a few more forum buyers lately.

Thanks!

pavloPL 09-10-2014 02:51 PM

I have £5000 ( 11% ) off the retail price for my one, ordered in UK. But I have ordered mine via drivethedeal.com website.

I got 5% on a c400 in the GTA. Note that Car cost Canada posted the c300 dealer cost at about 89.5% of list
