It can no longer be considered a problem, but a feature, as this is by design

You can hear it over the music, but it isn't any louder, but somehow it makes itself known.

It's easy to miss for the first few days, so I suspect none of the reviews noticed it our that it was always there.b it took me for weeks to notice the frequency.

I may have heard this sound once or twice before but I NEVER notice it in day to day use. Never heard it on the loaners either.

So no, you will not care about this noise after owning the car a while.

I agree, its not an issue unless its persistent. I loved the post where the guy said they'd not buy this car because it makes an occasional click. Funny.

Strange that it seems like mostly non-US owners are hearing this noise, does it affect US/Canada cars as well?

Ahhh that is really interesting. The people responding with a yes seem to be all in Europe. Perhaps the Alabama plant does something different than the other plants that prevent this clicking sound from occurring?

That would also explain why the American car reviewers have never noted this sound.

Blimey! - that IS interesting.... Alabama doing something different in their build, that actually makes it better, not worse?..

I get the sound. Thought it sounds like a cricket chirping. It's not too loud, and usually does it about three times in succession something like 1 or 2 minutes into a journey then stops. It's not annoying like a creak or rattle.

Alabama car. Have the clicking. Drives me nuts, for a week or two I thought it was flexing in the Center stack rubbing on something. I would drive with my head cocked, trying to isolate where the hell the sound comes from.

I am in California (so it was built in US), and I notice this exact behavior every time I turn the car off. It's kind of annoying for such a nice car, and they should be able to fix it.

Chirping creeks in a C Class? Welcome to the club

It would be more of a surprise if someone's C didn't chirp.

So I had a call from Mercedes today, from one of they're very unhelpful customer service monkeys. He said that he had spoken to the technical department and that this wasn't a fault, but a standard feature of the car and that they weren't going to do anything about it.

I'm going to do something about it. I'm going to demand that they fix it or I'll refuse the car and demand my money back. I didn't think I would feel this way, but they clearly have contempt for their customers and don't take their concerns seriously. I don't want such a company to have my money.

Had an email from their customer service (we aren't here to help you) department.

In relation to your complaint about the audible noise which occurs when you activate your key less go, our Technical Specialists have advised that this is a design feature and the system is operating as it should. I will certainly note your feelings on this design feature and your feedback will be forwarded to the relevant Department for future consideration in our design features. Our Technical Specialists have explained that this noise will occur when you start the car only for the first four minutes, I apologise that you are unhappy with how this feature operates, however, as it is working as it is intended too we will not be replacing the unit or carrying out repair work.

So, frankly they don't give a monkeys...

Quite...

They can't admit that they're at fault, clearly.

There's no purpose, or else it would be designed in to other cars.

Do you have a link to that forum, so I can pass it on to my dealer and the technical team here in the UK, because at the moment they won't accept that it's a problem.

the writing is in turkish

http://forum.donanimhaber.com/m_8528...page_91/tm.htm

but the update code is in it i will copy it below the text.

Can't make head nor tail of it. Google Translate isn't up to the task.

I'll ask them to check that the software is up to date - I guess that's what the 09/2014 bit is about. My vehicle was made in December 2014 though, so I would have thought that I would be more up to date than that.

I've now got the dealership looking at it again - I'm going to take the car to the dealer again to have them look it. Hopefully they have more clout with Mercedes centrally than I do.

This is the most legible I could get it:

Only the most recent up-to-date that I have ever seen as a subject with keyless go feature from among you, and he is now forever to open up:
drive with 5,000 km, has found the October production and this error did not make even 1 times. MB is accepting this problem. The vehicle is fitted with 09/2014 Production before this issue, and it is usually easy to basidi: the problem and service friends who GO Keyless control box new software needs to be be notified of any Upgrades being delivered.

So they're not saying it was resolved in 09/14, they're saying that was the car production date they discovered it/reproduced it on. Quite whether the fix is on later/current production cars is the question.

sorry for that did not have time to translate it but will do it now.
just translating the necessary part.

my car is an october production and currently at 5.000 km and have not faced this problem. MB is accepting this as a problem. its a common problem with cars manufactured before 09/2014 and the fix is easy. people who have this problem should go to the service and update the software in the keyless go control box. if the service does not know about this tell them to get in contact with MBT and ask for software updates after 09/2014.

I've got a UK C200 Estate Premium Plus and have this same problem. December 2014 Bremen build.

Sounds a cross between a cricket chirping and something being scraped.

Aus 2014 June build, with Keyless and have this 'problem' as well.

Never bothered me, always wondered where it was coming from. I had my software updated for another issue, may be it has fixed this as well I wonder?

It would be nice to know whether an update has fixed it or not. My car was made in December 2014 though, and it makes the noise, so I doubt it a little.

Mine seems to make it more often when the key is in a pocket that's the other side of my body from the centre console, so i suspect it is hunting around for the key.

I find it flipping irritating.
