Why not tell us what is a good "predictor of total speed at the corner"?
I have driven SLS on track, also 991 C2S. I did not feel the SLS a "lump" or anything less at corners, as others have attested to.
Each of them has its own emphases and priorities, and people refer one over the other, nothing wrong with that.
You seem to want to convince others only the one you like is superior.
And please don't keep telling people you will not talk to them, do it, mere talk is cheap.

What's interesting is how nearly every review I've seen of the AMG-GT have the reviewer stating something along the lines of "fixes some of the clumsiness felt namely at the nose of the SLS". Some going as far as to just simply express dislike of the SLS in their drives.
Ring times are one thing, actually "liking" how a car handles is another. The GTR is the Ring King if we're talking anything nearing a value metric. A handful of GTR's "clobber" even the SLS BS on said Ring, never mind the regular SLS. This is a big reason why Porsche cars earn more respect than spec driven cars (even though they also can rule on specs, they aren't *known for* their specs, the specs are a nice confirmation of the sensation you feel when you push a 911 to its limits and feel it not a a sum of its parts, but like one whole of an entity), which drives other manufacturers crazy. I think this "intangible" is from a tangible: It's engineering precision driven for driver engagement, by ultimate chassis balance, down to a powertrain that's in perfect harmony within it.
Has anyone here driven a GTR? It's as soulless as any Nissan on the roads. This matters a lot more to real buyers than the incredible Ring time it pulls. Even at the limit, it doesn't rivet nor charm you like a 911. Part of this is its size. It feels like a 2 door sedan around you, until you rip and it shrinks.
The AMG-GT has gotten strong markings for how it gets closer to a Porsche (and make no mistake, AMG is VERY transparent in their obsession to chase what Porsche has acquired and "go after it", even by simply judging by its somewhat derivative copy design namely at the rear flanks), and again, many use the SLS as a basis that the AMG-GT purposefully tries to "correct from" in reaching this Porsche dynamic. And I haven't seen one review, even in obvious Daimler press sponsored ones, state that it reaches a 911 in the way it's attempting to encroach on. It's still its own thing. Closer, but not as brutal as an SLS.
An SLS is like an acquired taste. Whether people here have driven one or not, it's obviously not considered one of the prime dynamic sports car chassis' in the world, if judging by benchmarks and (lack of) respect earned namely by those who do that as a profession.
Trying to tame an untamed beast is one thing. And an SLS draws a very good line in matching muscle car sensibilities with ultra sports car capabilities. But if unwieldy beasts to tame are your thing, then take blown and gutted 2,500 lb race suspension, chassis braced, Mustang Fox Body 5.0 around a track. No T/C, high grip, HP and torque for days, and will scare the sh** out of you and if you can get it around, make you feel like the worlds best driver.
Or, just take a GT2, i.e "Widowmaker". Scary, hard to tame, yet with that same underlying impeccable 911 chassis. And much better Ring times (RS) than the SLS BS to boot.

But right now I'm more interested in whether the C450 "AMG" will pull a higher lateral G than a 335i M Sport (won't be hard, that car is pretty soft, maybe somewhere in between that and the mighty S4? That'd impress especially considering the inherent W205 basis it works from). Or how visceral they can manage to get it compared to those it's going to compete with, without sacrificing that serene and isolated comfort that one gets and expects from a Mercedes to begin with.

I have driven a GTR. It only stirs vague feelings of delight flat out. Otherwise it has as much character as a Samsung fridge. I don't want to be too rude as a respected staff member here owns one. Fortunately one of many vehicles he has.
My other worry about the GTR is engine durability ~ usually a Nissan strength. Being an oil man I've looked at many GTR used oil sample analyses. The wear rates in those engines at track days is alarming. I would do an engine oil change every 500 Km's or after every track day the wear metals are so high.

Yeah exactly. It's like a super duper vacuum cleaner (sounds like one too). The numbers speak for themselves, and they're nothing short of astonishing, but it just is devoid of character or fun, considering what it does. One of my best friends who recently attended a Porsche track day with me has had one since they came out (paid a premium and everything). Around town, it's dull and soulless as a Sentra, and it really does feel large around you (it is pretty large) until you start to push it.
I respect them greatly, for what they accomplish, but just not something find alluring or that makes me want it.

Hyp ~ I'm sure you don't like all the staff at MBW. But we have a decent bunch of members that graciously give of their time free, gratis & for nothing to keep this board the success that it is. Annual growth of active membership is most satisfying to IB, best in the stable so I would give people some slack. It's not a fun job with the behaviour of some.

I don't know any staff personally, so I honestly cannot say if I "like" them or not....
the mods could have said no if they didn't want to give their time right? it's a choice one makes........

Hyp ~ You are correct on all counts. The behaviour issue only comes into play when too many fellow members complain about an individual via the process or PM & if a pattern emerges we have to respond to member wishes. I'm one of the lenient ones that prefers to talk things out. e.g I've never banned a member during my entire tenure at MBW. I do wish more members would adhere to the TOU.
I consider myself a member first & mod second. Those that know me understand that I spend far more time helping people technically with their cars than on mod duties.
If my PM count was included in my Post statistics the number would be frightening. Yes I do it because I know the cars fairly well & like helping people.
