Have a 2015 c300 with AMG appearance package. Even with my rear view camera I managed to back into a snow pile, pulled away and noticed the black grid-like plastic trim popped off and the fascia around exhaust pipe is cracked. Popped the black trim back in but the damage has been done. So bummed. Is this an easy fix??

D'oh!

That's OK, even with the review camera I somehow managed to scuff up a rim while backing into a parking space one day. Guess that teaches me not to go into work so damn early in the day (5:45am)!

I can empathize with the jaw clenching, heart sickening feeling that occurs at the moment of the crunch. What a pain!

You should be able to just buy a replacement part from MB and switch over. I don't expect it to be cheap though... I suspect the car is too new to find a nearly new one in a scrap yard. Good luck!

Don't beat yourself up over it. Look at it this way -- once you get that first ding/scratch, you can relax a little. It is just a machine after all!

I just hope it doesn't flap off while driving at high speeds...then I will need to get it repaired.

Sorry to hear

It looks bad in those photos up close but I think they're still minor. You could just take it off and upgrade to a carbon fiber one

I'm sorry for your mishap. Fortunately, the sheet metal is fine. As has been pointed out, with some $ your car will be as good as new. Things like this happen to all of us. If you're anything like me, the sooner you get it fixed, the better you will feel.

A few tubes of 5 minute araldite epoxy resin & a lot of patience will fix it. It would be clever to put a few stiffener pieces behind the panel across the damage to stiffen & strengthen it.

Don't feel bad. Second day I had my 2015 F350 Platinum diesel, I was adjusting the new fifth wheel hitch. Got in the truck for something, started playing with the nav. system and decided to pull the truck forward forgetting that I had put the tail gate up. That diesel didn't even feel that tail gate at an idle. $1500 bucks later it's as good as new. It is new in fact.

You scared the heck out of me! When I read of your misfortune last night, I realized that I had done the same thing. I remembered that, in spite of the rear-view camera, I too had backed my C300 into a snow pile. (In January, I rented a VW Passat in Germany. I found the parking sensors on the VW were much more reliable for avoiding obstacles than my rear-view camera. The sensors protect all four corners, for openers. The rear-view camera is better for detecting kids.)

I couldn't rest until I checked my car this morning. I was lucky; the rear-end was undamaged. We have to stop thinking that there is something called a "bumper" back there. There are only trim panels. So your misfortune has warned others.

I have one that is going to be available next week as I'm having an aftermarket diffuser installed. It has 9000 miles on it, in mind condition. Not sure if it's possible to send out to you, but just throwing it out there.

Just curious, but shouldn't your insurance cover this under your collision policy ... minus a deductible?

It seems to me that this should just be a routine insurance claim and a simple repair at your local body shop or MB dealer.

My insurance company will add surcharges for the next 3 years. With a high deductible like mine, it's not worth calling my insurance company for small claims.
