Is the c450 basically a c400? Also never had a 4 matic before. Why is the RWD c63 more fun to drive?

.
C450 is a more tuned version of the C400

See here:

RWD vs AWD is always up to debate. More fun is relative. Put me in a C300 and I'll have fun.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ECU dyno tune; EDOK TCU tune; BB intakes; sprintbooster
C450 engine = c400 engine with amg tune

C450:
Awd is amg
Brakes are amg
Suspension is amg
Essentially looks like c400
Awd more practical in winter
Amg tuned exhaust

C63 rwd more fun to drive because it takes more driver input and correction to navigate the car through turns with all that power

Fixed that ^^^^ for you : Essentially looks like C63.

Agree with the rest .

It's really nothing like a C400. Even the trans is tuned .

A fair number of good changes. Very short time they made the c400, not very many of them sold.

And sadly the values will probably tank once the C450 is on the roads.

I would have gotten the C400 had MB allows for more flexible options. I didn't want the Sport or leather package and it has limited interior color & wood options. The C300's nice performing 4 turbo also a contributing factor since this is my first ever 4 cylinder auto. A good thing for me with the quick change over to C450 because I could well be an unhappy C400 owner.

My enjoyment of the car will be the same no matter what, up until that point when I go to trade it in in a couple of years!

I purchased my C400 with the intention of keeping it for several years so I am not overly concerned with the trade in value in the future. I love the refined luxury and sportiness of the model with its effortless power delivery. I am not at all put off by the transition to the C450 AMG. I'm sure it will be a great car thereby adding to the overall reputation of the entire C class line.
