Just got a call from my salesman that the new C300 I ordered on February 14th is already on their lot. Seven weeks from the order date is sooner than we expected.
This is the car that will replace my too often serviced Iridium C300 base. My dealer agreed that my initial experience with the C300 was much more troublesome than it should have been, and they had me order a new car. The deal won't be worked out until Thursday, but they promised I would be very pleased with their offer. They've been very good to me so far, so I'm hopeful they will come up with a workable deal on the trade and purchase.
The new car is a Palladium C300 Sport with a black leather interior ... no more MB-Tex for me please ... and the open pore black Ash trim.
If things go well, I should be driving home with this car on Friday.
Stan - are you at least a little worried that they make you wait until Thursday before getting into numbers, despite their promises? I just find it odd that they would order a new car to your spec and not tell you the pricing. Perhaps they didn't want you to shop that number around?

There's a lot to do, and the owners of the dealership will meet with sales on Thursday. There's also some question regarding possible assistance from MB-USA. This was all agreed before I ordered the car.
I see. At the time of my order, the dealer said they only see that on the black material.

Bad information. All MB-Tex made before the 1/5 date can bleed in below freezing temperatures. It is most obvious with black, but it happens on grey and beige also.
So are you saying that I won't need to worry about MB TEX bleeding issues in my March build w205?
The defective MB-Tex was no longer used as of 1/5/15 production. The new material has had no problems at all, so your March production car is 100% safe.
Thanks, Grant. Well, I'm hoping to have better luck with this one. My current C300 has a VIN in the 27xx range, (August, 2014), and this one is over 61xxx, (end of March, 2015), so Alabama has had enough time to work the bugs out.
If I'm not happy with the deal, I'm under no obligation to accept it ... and the new car was ordered for me with no deposit. It's got a SOLD sign in the window, so I think we all expect this to happen. I'll know soon enough.
How does alignment of trim, bumper and mirrors look? Though can change with time, they let you take a ride to see where it falls on the wind spectrum? After your ordeals, I'd think them letting you test drive it a day might help. Fingers crossed for you!

After I take possession of the new C300, which should be either on Friday or Monday, I will post a full review and pictures. I will make a detailed report comparing the two cars, paying particular attention to fit and finish items. My current C300 has no wind noise issues, so it'll be interesting to see how the new one stacks up.
I'll also do a comparison of the base versus sport suspensions ... both with 18" tires. After over six months with the C300 base, I'm curious how different the Sport will feel in everyday driving.
If that dealer, Stan, is wise they'll thoroughly inspect this car prior to delivery
Rear bumper fit and the sagging sunroof shade are my biggest concerns. I've already left a message for the service manager, who will inspect the car and get back to me about that. I may also ask them to take it out on the highway and check for wind noise before I make the trip down there.
After my current C300 is history, I'll be in no mood to start yet another round of service visits to fix sloppy assembly defects.
Stan, your continuing saga, updates and reviews are always interesting and informative. Best wishes with your upcoming negotiations on the new Sport edition. She looks like a real beauty. I can't wait to see your reviews upon delivery.
