I'm interested with the new B&O system, there seems to be a lot more speakers on the front. There are two speakers on each front door, 2 speakers on each front pillars, and 4 speakers on the dashboard.

I count 19 speakers. How many does the Burmeister c-class have?

Not sure if it's just because it's new but I like it. They did go pretty conservative considering it's a redesign, but I'm sure the S4 is going to look attractive.

13 speakers and a 9-channel amplifier with total output of 590 W

It's ok. Like mentioned above, not as striking as the w205 when first introduced. I dunno about the touchpad being forward of the gearshift....seems like it might be an awkward reach.

It's likely one of the reasons why the gear lever is short, flat, and wide. You can probably use it as a wrist rest.

The A4 is the best bland Audi you can buy. I think the new design has a fixed screen because people are buying the C-class and 3-series and 4-series, so Audi can get away with a fixed design too.
I have owned both A4 and A6. A6 is much better

Regular, S-Line, Avant comparison

Not much changed from previous Gen from the outside. Inside looks pretty boring to me and the dash vent reminds me of the older Toyotas.

Looks more like a A3 now

Boring exterior IMO, the interior is nice, but not on par with the C Class IMO. The nav screen trend is interesting..

Yes, it will probably work as a wrist rest as in the A8:

Same here! On a side note, the B&O is worth the $895 in the A4. Sadly, I didn't pony up the $5,900 for B&O in the A6. For my next A6, I'm going with B&O.

I had B&O in my A4. It is probably the best system in its class.
I have just recieved my W205. After having Audi A4, Bmw 3 and Range Rover, W205 seems much more complicated car

I'm surprised Mercedes didn't go with B&O with their C-Class.
I have never heard of Burmester until seeing the c-class. I can't even find that much information regarding the brand itself and makes you wonder just how good of a quality it is compared to the more well known brands with a long history like B&O.

I thought I saw some advertising copy about them being some kind of home hi-fi company in Germany. I had never heard of them either. The industry has HK, Bose, and now BO, but frankly I've never heard of BO audio for automitive 'till now.

It's all just marketing speak for an upgraded sound system - more watts, more and better speakers, better sound.

Evidently they are a company clamoring for more market share, or a break into the automotive market. And apparently good enough to sell a contract to Mercedes Benz.

Is it any good? The surround sound in HD I heard was pretty good. I didn't even realize they were piping in hd sound for hi-fi. 'Sall new to me.

Burmester audio products are super high end, pretty exclusive, and damn expensive. Before Mercedes, the were also the audio supplier for Porsche and Bugatti.

To give you an idea of how expensive. Google tells me:

The Burmester Reference Line CD player is $50,000

The Burmester Top Line CD player is only $17,000 to $22,000, depending on options. What a bargain!

I suppose if it is used in the Bugatti Veyron, it can't be half bad. Honestly to me it just sounds pretty good, I was expecting more but too much Bose/Beats in my life has probably screwed up my sense of what "good" sounds like.

It doesn't matter if they were used in Bugatti or Veyron or made $20,000+ CD players. The most important is how much MB budgeted for the system in the C-class. The same for Audi and B&0. The B&0 in the A8 is a total different beast than the one in the A4. Different budgets different quality. Bose on the other hand blows no matter what the budget Lol.

Hey man, I tried looking it up and I couldn't find history regarding the brand. So i assumed it's either a brand new company or way to exclusive, even google doesn't show much. Even their website is in German and nothing really to show.

B&O on the other hand has plenty of info and I've seen some of their home theater products which are incredibly expensive.

Just because I've never heard of it, doesn't give me a right to say it is junk.

Bose on the other hand, is an overpriced and under performing product that shouldn't be offered because that one is 'junk'. Research and reviews would hold true to that. Burmester? I wouldn't know.

Don't put words in my mouth young fella.

Personally i really liked the BOSE system in my Infiniti.

And by far Bose makes the best noise cancelling headphones. But thats another topic on its own

Yeah, back in the day Bose was all the rage. 901 and 501 speakers, surround sound, great headphones, and on and one. Loved their products.

We have some Cerwin Vega speakers at the house that are probably close to 30 years old. I've re-foamed the cones on the woofers and they just keep going - still sound great. Low end FR is better than modern subs.

I have a Bose sound system in the new Colorado pickup. While not mind-blowing great, it's certainly better than the stock radio, so it's much appreciated.

I'm surprised anyone would say their product is simply junk.

They are infamous for "Better Off Something Else" because the products they release are subpar in quality. I remember reading a review in an audiophile magazine awhile back that dissected a lot of BOSE products to show that they use cheaper material and short cuts to make their products. For the price people pay for them, it's unacceptable. They only provide "perceived value" by using medicore material with a sexy exterior.

It was mentioned that they use LDF (low-density fiberboard) in their housing as opposed to MDF (medium density fiberboard) which is more or less the industry standard and is much thicker (3x more denser than LDF)

The BOSE satellites have bizarre frequency responses and actually have gaps , typically in midrange. Bose is known to emphasize the bass to make it sound like big sound from small speakers. Given how 'popular' and apparently 'good' BOSE is, it also makes you wonder why no BOSE product is THX certified, another marketing in itself but aligns itself among the best people and products in the audio industry.

They not be junk junk, but you can surely get better quality speakers for less. BOSE is purely marketing, nothin' more.

A lot of brands I can think of fall into the same category....hell, most stuff made today.
Kia, Ikea, crap from harbor freight, walmart, pretty much anything that comes from china, or korea, or taiwan, most home furnishings today. Am I right?

Why just pick on Bose?
