No, I didn't want it. That's the point. My VIN search says that I have it. That is not a report that I posted, it is the sticker from my car window showing that I did not order it. The 17 inch wheels are standard, I upgraded to the 18 inch wheels. The ride on my car is horrible over rough pavement, so I always suspected that there was something wrong with the suspension. Now I know why - they installed sport suspension when it should have been standard suspension.

Here it is on the VIN report:

Here it is on the VIN report:

If you really have the 486 Sport suspension, it is a factory blunder since that option should not be available for your car. You should talk to your dealer and have them physically verify that the 486 is actually in the car and not just a listing error. If it really is a 486, you should be able to have a very interesting conversation with MB-USA about this mistake.

Also note that none of the steel suspension variants have a particularly smooth ride over rough pavement. Coupled with the RFT tires, the ride feels stiff on all of them.

When you initially posted a picture of your car, I immediately thought you had the Sport suspension due to its stance. I think the build sheet confirms my earlier suspicion. MBUSA and Dealerships really screwed up a lot of the earlier builds.

Yes, it will be a very interesting conversation. I wish there was a way for me to confirm it on the car, like maybe the exact ride height. I suppose it could be a mistake on the VIN web site, but everything sure does point to Sport Suspension. I will check it out on my first scheduled maintenance. Stay tuned...

It should be on the spec sheet or whatever it's called

The One that was on the window of the car

I ordered the AMG Sport Package and I got the Comfort Suspension

I realized that I am happy with it, even though it is a little high. I usually tend to park very close to the curb or concrete and because of the Comfort Suspension, I don't have to worry about the bumper being too close or scratched

You should contact your dealer and tell them that you are not happy with the suspension.
They might be able to switch it out.

I had my comfort suspension replaced by the dealer after an accident.

I am definitely not happy with it. Switching out would be the best thing. I do worry though, that they will mess something up. I don't know how much is involved. Actually a new car would be great too, but that will not happen. Did you have any problems after the switch?

hpilot, you aren't the only one. I went out to dinner last night, and I parked next to another base C300. Except, this C300 sat much lower than mine. I kept thinking, "why is that car sitting so low?" I initially thought it may have had the airmatic suspension, but I looked inside and it clearly didnt have any other options (no heated seats, no multimeadia package, no LED headlights), so I thought the chances of airmatic on a base C300 was pretty rare. I should have wrote down the last 6 digits of the VIN, and pulled the data card and see if it said 486. I did put my fingers in the tire gap. My car with 485 susp. has a 4 finger gap all around, while this one was a touch over 2.5 finger gap. So, i'm certain this C300 was riding around with 486. I've seen so many Sport packages with the 485, it's not even funny. This whole suspension thing is really frustrating. I would have bought a sports package C300 had I know I could have bought one with 485. The roads here are so bad, I need comfort all the way. But the dealer insisted that wasn't possible. No way, no how. Even when I presented them with data cards on three sport packages with 485 suspension, they just laughed at me and said "Sport package = sport suspension...period!" Clearly, that wasn't the case afterall.

Just checked my VIN, according to that site I have the comfort suspension code 485! I just emailed my sales person and left them a voice message. Hopefully they can sort this out

they should replace your entire suspension system with airmatic for this travesty!

"They should replace your entire car with a S class for this travesty."

Keep a curtious and professional tone, and they will solve the issue. Start demanding extra stuff, and they may make things difficult for you.
A lot of people think "Comfort Suspension" sounds nice, but doesn't know about ride hight etc.

In Norway, after configuring you car, you get a list of all the codes chosen, and you have to sign to accept the configuration. No way back after that.

Yeah I am quite surprised I have this issue because even though my ride height is very high, the suspensions is still pretty stiff. Hopefully the dealer gets back to me today

That was the same procedure that my dealer followed here in CA and my car was delivered exactly as configured (matched the VIN printout line for line).

The first pictures that you posted of your car hpilot, to me at least, looked like you had the 485 comfort suspension...due to the amount of wheel gap in the fenders.

Comfort 485 Suspension

Not so here in Florida. To this day I never seen a print out like that from my dealer. All I have is the window sticker.

Well here are some better pictures. The distance from the ground to the highest part of the wheel well arch on the front wheels is 27 inches.

27" for mine too but I have 225/50 R17 tires which I don't believe should make a difference in overall height.

Rusty what is your build date mine is 1/8/2014. I'm wondering if ours is close since we have similar problems and some of your previously problems have happened to me already and been fixed.

Are you going to have them confirm which one you actually have when you take it in?

I'm not going to ask them, they are going to look at my rims and say you have the sport suspension, you think they are actually going to go into the computer and check that out?

Never noticed but I guess mine does look high

You REALLY need to find another MB dealership because the one I go to bends over backwards for me.

The service at my MB dealership has been excellent...for instance, I've taken three 18" AMG wheels to my dealership so far to have balanced which I bought from eBay to use as Winter wheels, and each time they refused to even charge me! The last time I was there, they misplaced my FOB for about 10 minutes...so they gave my son a nice $60 MB fleece jacket from the gift shop...I wasn't even mad and told them don't worry about it...they insisted. Now that's what I call good service!

This coming Monday I drop my C300 off to the dealership again, but this time I'm having the rear diffuser painted black like a C63...they're only charging me $125...and giving me a loaner for the couple days it will take for no charge!

WOW! Nothing like that where I live. Mercedes makes you long to take it to a Lexus dealer. Or even a Chevy dealer.
