Side Mirror Puddle Lights
So I just got a new 2016 C300 a few weeks ago. I noticed early on that the car doesn't have puddle lights under the side mirrors, which originally surprised me.
I've had a 2015 C300 4Matic service loaner the past 2 days, and I noticed that its side mirrors have puddle lights as expected! So it looks like they removed the puddle lights for 2016 models...? EDIT: To clarify, it looks like the 2016 model doesn't have the lights at all. Anyone have a 2016 that can confirm that? |
Take a look and see if the lights are out, LEDs are notorious for burning out on the C.
|
Is there an option to turn them off in vehicle settings? I thought I saw a similar option on my E-Class. . .
|
In our market we need the ILS LED's for "welcome lights", if that's what you mean?
|
Downlights in outer mirror housings only on foldable mirrors.
|
To clarify, last I checked, my 2016 didn't have the puddle lights (under each side mirror) at all. And yes, my mirrors do fold.
Does anyone else have a 2016 that can confirm that??? |
My 2016 with folding mirrors DOES have white puddle lights under the mirrors.
|
My 2016 C300 Sport also has the puddle lights under the mirrors. Here's a not too great cell pic, but you can see it in action:

And you guys are in the US right? I could swear I didn't see any bulb at all. How is this possible?!?
Do you have a picture without the lights being on? |

Do you have a picture without the lights being on? I have the following packages: Premium 2 (includes Premium 1 options) Sport Package Multi-Media Package Intelligent Lighting Interior Package Plus other things like Panoramic Sunroof and Burmester, but I doubt that would change anything. |
My 2015 had it and my 2016 has it too. Check your settings in command under vehicle settings then I believe it's part of locator lighting. You have the ability I believe to turn them on or off and and adjust the time they remain illuminated. I never saw it listed in any of the packages so I assume it's a standard feature in us models.

This is very strange. I only have the multimedia package basically, but the service loaner is a base model and has the puddle lights.
I actually messed around with the vehicle settings a lot before and the locator lighting is enabled. Plus, last I checked the mirrors, there were no lights there at all. I'll take a closer look when I pick up my car from service tomorrow. Hmmm... |

TBH, I've had my car since October and until today when you opened this thread, I didn't even notice I had these lights. They don't put out that much light. So maybe you have them and just didn't notice you did?
And then I got the loaner, and it has the lights! :( Yeah it's not a big deal, but I like how it looks at night haha. |
If they really aren't there, I'd definitely have a conversation with Mercedes when you go pick up your car.

Dealer explained, sometimes these kind of mistakes happen due errors with automated assembly line. So best thing to do is to get it checked. |
Ok so I did get it checked when I went to pick up the car. Basically they told me that at some point in production line of the 2016 models, they stopped including these puddle lights. No idea why. It's weird because you can see the outline where they would have cut out the opening for the lights, haha.
So I wonder if people on here who have it, have an earlier production date. |

Does anyone who has them also has the door handle lights?

My car was an early 2016 build somewhere in about the 3rd week of September. When was your car built?

Door handle lights comes with keyless go door handles. It is very interesting to have no puddle lights. My EU2016 C180 has the puddle lights and also checked the dealer today after this thread and they have received cars last week and all models except SE have the puddle lights.
Here is the SA code for my mirrors; 500 OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR LH AND RH FOLDING I don't know if the codes are different in US but if the number is different maybe they have changed the parts. |
Door handle lights only on full keyless go.
|
Should I call MBUSA and ask about the mirrors? haha
Also, where do you find the part numbers associated with your vehicle? |
