New Motor Trend test

This just popped up today.
http://www.motortrend.com/news/2016-...t-test-review/
0-60 in 4.4 and a 13 flat quarter mile which means it will take a Maserati Ghibli Q4S. Motor Trend also agrees that defaulting back to comfort after drives sucks.

Not just a Ghibli Q4S. I went head to head with a 2015 Maserati Quattroporte S Q4 and held up very well until 135mph..that's when I said I can't hang no more with 3 lives in my car

This was one of the better reviews I've seen of the 450 however...those engine bay pictures are not accurate..that is not our engine bay..

Good find. For saving $8500 over what I'd pay for the C43 (negotiated a great discount on my C450 yet to be built), I'm fine with an aged 7 speed. In 3 years I'll trade it in for a well refined 9 speed with 3 years of learning and improvement to it.

Good to see the 4.4 speed and being able to take a few Maserati's. Equipped with an Escort radar detector and removed badges, I hope I'll have the chance to surprise a few of its owners on the highway.

You don't even need to remove the badges cuz 98% of drivers on the road don't know wtf a C450 is. They know its not a C63 that's for sure.

I don't think I will trade in my C450 until 1.) AWD C63S is released or 2.) MB released an inline 6 TT

I can tell you that the Quattroporte I took on head to head on my way to Atlantic City was surprised I had the lead until I finally let off the throttle at 135mph. It just didnt make sense to keep going 100+ mph when traffic built up with 2 passengers making my car a bit less agile and I was also afraid of getting rock chips lol

I'm banking on the AWD C63S too for my 3 year swap, fingers crossed. I can't tell much difference between a C63 and C450 without the badges, besides the sound, but I'm no expert at visually identifying cars. If someone happens to think it's a C300 and tries to race me, well, they're f*cked in more ways than one.

that happened to a Lexus owner a few weeks ago in miami. I think he thought I was in a c300 and was tailgating me until I press the accelerator and he couldn't keep up, was in the rear view mirror all the way until I let go because of traffic

hahaha

Anyone who complains about a daily driver hitting 60 mph in less than five seconds most likely spends more time comparing spec sheets on forums than actually driving cars.

LOL my aunt thought that I bought the same car as her son....a CLS 63AMG. She said it pretty much looks identical. I took it as a compliment Needless to say, I believe most people aside from car enthusiasts don't know/don't care which model you're driving. They generally look at what brand and stop there...

I could not agree with you more!! Mid range punch for overtaking is more important than 0 to 60, and this car have a devastating mid range. I've been driving my C450 now for 5 months, and I absolutely love the thing. At first, I was contemplating getting a power upgrade, but I've decided against it, reason, I will not be tracking my car, so there is absolutely no need for a power upgrade, unless it is just for bragging rights. The only upgrade I will be doing is a decent catback exhaust from one of the reputable companies.

Sounds like it was written by a high schooler to be honest.... and sorry, I dont know ANYONE that would say this car "glides over road imperfections". The ride on the C450 makes you feel every single pimple in the road. 4.4 seconds is FAST though haha...

I was driving my DD on the turnpike today and saw a 2016 CLS400 and it does look similar to the C450. Similar grills and brows and front vents/bumper.

The 4.4 time for 0-60 is exactly what I predicted from a major magazine.Motor Trend tests with a full tank of gas,and corrects the times for temperature. If you test with less than 1/4 tank of gas and on a cool dry day I believe 4.2 sec 0-60,and 12.8 sec ET's are possible as evidenced by my previous test with a GT2 timer.

Interesting comments, as I've had a similar viewpoint. For me it starts with the CLA - clearly a CLS derivative, where the more I look at it the more I dig it. Didn't like the design at first; seemed to need a rear end more like the CLS than it's slumpy butt.

Now a co-worker has a black one that she parks next to my C450. And the the more I view the CLA as what it truly is - and here's the key, a 4-door "coupe", and imagine it with just 2 doors...........then it hits me. That's a true modern Mercedes coupe profile, not unlike the current E-Class coupe. So I kinda like it now.

But on a daily basis, as I stare at the blacked out C450 (black on black, night package, tinted windows, smoked taillamps, black wheels w/silver 5-stars and outline), I'm getting the same vibe. Except for the clear headlamps, everything's dark and it gives a nice, continuous flow from bumper-to-bumper.

Then it hits me again. Not only is it a mini S-Class design, but the shrinkage combined with imagining it with 2 doors........and BAM! Gives the impression of another MB coupe profile!!

Dammit, I think they're on to something with this design theme, because that C450 is one pretty-*** mother........nnnever mind.

And Chango's aunt is clearly knowledgeable, discerning, and endeared "car guy". Way to go Auntie!

One of the recent owners on here just posted a time slip at 12.8 and at 111 MPH. I'd say that's pretty solid.

Just curious how they launch to get these times. Do they rev it to 4k in neutral and drop it? or is it just mash it to the floor in Drive?

I launch it by holding the brakes, revving it to the desired rpm ( my safe decision was 1900-2000 rpm ) and letting go of the breaks and full throttle. I got 12.8 with the vivid racing tune.
