C450 deals?

I was looking at buying a used CLA45 for a while until I discovered the C450. From what I have seen/read so far the C450 has good power for what it is and I really prefer the look of C450 over the CLA45 inside and out.

I have driven many CLA45 and love the way the car drives and handles and sounds but I have not driven a C450 yet so I hope I will not be disappointed when I drive one.

Has anyone recently picked up a new C450 and care to mention what kind of discount they received? I am looking at on the lot cars with msrp of 52k-53k and I was reading some people getting discounts of 14-17% off on this model since its outgoing (not sure if thats true).

I got 16% off a car on the lot at the end of February. Was a very highly optioned out car but still got 12,500 off.

Mercedes will cut their throat on a close out. Back when the 221 ended, 20% off ($20,000) in the month before the 222s arrived.

I'm in the same boat. Although dunno where you are seeing MSRPs at 52-53k, all the ones around here are $62-63k, maybe you were looking at C400s and not C450s?

A C450 can be optioned (or not optioned) like a C300. If you leave the option boxes unchecked, MBTex instead of leather, etc you can get them down a good bit. Base MSRP is $51725.

I just received two offers at 11% off and 13% off to start. Although that is with the fleet discount. Trying to decide what is a good target to push for. Curious as to how June's incentives will change things.

I wouldn't say you're a sucker. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal and have already been enjoying your car for a while.

I'm not seeing any new June incentives over what was offered in May. Anyone have a different perspective?

Same here, not really impressed with that since this is an 'outgoing model' but they have fired back saying that it's 'just a number change on the trunk badge'... (both statements are true in one way or another)

I'd bite at 16% to offset that nasty first year depreciation. Otherwise why not just buy one year used and get it at 30% off msrp?

Yeah, one dealer emailed me and said "it's just a name change, that's all". I told him names matter and if they didn't, I'd be buying a Hyundai. Eagerly awaiting his response.

I'm leasing mine, otherwise I would buy a 2016 that's gently used instead of buying.

Yes, it seems like 15% off Msrp is pretty standard now on the C450

I found that many dealer groups are willing to go 15%+ but the real challenge is getting the MF at the buy rate less available reductions (for leases only). I was able to get my MF to .00049.

Have gotten several quotes, but this morning, one of the sales people revised his prior quote to include "June's Cash Back Bonus from MB" for $1,800 if I completed the deal today. This is on top of an almost 15% discount off MSRP of $63,930 for a sales price of $52,630.

Does this cash back bonus exist? It might be enough to help me off the fence and ignore the fact I will be getting a soon to be discontinued model, and will not get 9 speed tranny nor the enhanced exhaust.

"June cash" by definition would be available all month. Don't let them pressure you with that 1980's era nonsense. The longer their car sits the more they want to unload it. Time is on your side unless/until they sell it.

The numbers that matter are discount off MSRP...that can be lease cash, dealer cash, whatever they want to call it... and the value in the trade if there is one. That's it. The other numbers are set by MBFS if it's a lease. If it's a purchase I'd get rates and terms from your bank or CU. Never from the dealer. You can let the dealer match your bank or CU rate for convenience sake but if you start with the dealers rate it'll have a couple of excess points as pure profit.

Also, if you're comfortable using spreadsheets download and play around with the lease or purchase SS here:

15% off MSRP (a legitimate 15% off, not 15% off on the price, with 10% recouped by the dealer in back-door fees and padding in the financing) is fair. If you can do a little better, great.

That's a low MF. I think in May the MF on the C450 was .00129. Not sure what it is for June.

The MF for June is .00129 less direct deposit giving you .00119 and then place 10 MSDs (multiple security deposits) for .00007 reduction on each MSD (=.0007 reduction). The resulting MF is .00049.

Most MB stores will not honor the "buy rate", which is the rate offered to them from MB Finance. As was stated by Mike above most dealers will offer a huge discount but make up for it in the fees, extras and interest rate to help the dealership make up for the discount on the MSRP.

I was able to lease a $60,690 C450 (including 2 year maintenance) for $480 for 48 months 10K miles per year, including the use tax in CT and $2,100 upfront for licensing / registration and first month's rent. That comes to $445.48 per month before tax.

Got it. I'm surprised it's so hard to get the MF without fluff. My dealer in Montgomery AL had no problems...

Here's a grab of my text thread with them:

Thought I'd chime in on my search..

After spending a good bunch of hours researching and trying to find the right C450, I realized how many of these have actually just been sitting on dealer lots for a long, long time. Some 260+ days!

In the state of CA alone there are something like 300-400+ of them just sitting there that no one wants, sounds like they are having a lot of trouble selling them.

I ended up negotiating an amazing deal but I haven't yet pulled the trigger because the combination of options/packages are really wonky on a lot of these. Most of them have the stock rims which are super ugly imo and I feel like I'd regret it not ordering a C43 instead with the exact packages I want (August is not far away...)

Maybe if I could get the same deal on an option'd C43 I'd do it but I doubt I could get the same discount #s.

Yeah that's what I realized when doing my research as well. Apparently the C300s are moving but the C450 are just sitting there since the general public doesn't really know what they are. That's why they are rebranding it and why I got an amazing discount on mine. I think some dealers here in CA had like 30 C450s in stock! Was able to get the most heavily optioned C450 available for $60k. Can't beat that and doubt the C43 will have those types of discounts available until the refresh.

Nice. I am at $49k on a $61-62k MSRP.. perfect options selection except the leather color and rims are not what I want.

Close but no cigar!

There are only 569 c450's in the entire US according to cars.com so not sure where you are seeing 300-400 in California alone. Agree that now is the time to get a killer deal on them. I ordered one completely optioned the way I wanted and will be picking it up in a couple weeks with a 17% off MSRP discount. That includes a $2300 fleet discount which will only be $500 for the 2017.

cars.com definitely does *not* have all the dealer's vehicle inventory.

I am basing the 300-400 number off the 10+ dealerships with 30+ C450s on the lot (Seriously, 30 C450s sitting there) and thats only within LA and SF! Not even including San Diego, east bay area, central CA, etc.
