AMG.one finally exposed!

Hi guys. I've been lurking on the forums for over a year reading and admiring all the fine Cs. I was contemplating on a few luxury sport sedans and decided to get the new Class after much testing and reviews.

I special ordered her 3 months ago and she arrived 1 month early. It's a 2016 Mercedes Benz C300 4Matic with AMG package inside and out. As I love modding cars, this one didn't go untouched. My previous two cars were:

2006 Lexus IS250

2006 Audi A3
AMG.one finally exposed!-_dsc0503-editsmall.jpg

I quickly customized it on the second day of ownership.

Current modifications include:
1. H&R sport springs
2. Roof and trunk spoilers
3. Mercedes Benz diamond grill
4. Mercedes Benz C450 twin exhaust tips
5. 35% NR Solargard tint
6. Debadged with ///AMG decal
7. AMG stainless steel door pins
8. Mercedes Benz black 19" AMG GTS wheels (for winter)

And, I think I'm officially done.....hopefully. These are some preliminary photos until I get a proper photoshoot done later on this summer.

Welcome, the car looks great, you're gonna catch a lot of flak for the eBay AMG badge on the trunk and probably the AMG in your username.

The car has an AMG appearance package. It's entirely cosmetic. That's a huge difference from being an AMG car mechanically, which is why Mercedes reserves the AMG trunk and fender badges for its actual high performance AMG W205s, the C450/43, the C63 and C63s.

I think it's fine to do the C450 Diamond grille and the "quad" exhaust tips but leave the car badged as a C300 and no fake AMG badging. It gives the impression you're ashamed all you could swing was a 300 but it's really important to you that other people think it's an AMG car.

Otherwise, it's a beautiful C300 and you should be proud of it for what it is.

Congrats on the car.

You can do whatever you want with it since it's yours but what Mike says is kinda true, especially on the street when a 335 or S4 pulls up next to you...

Reminds of when I was college and the kids were sticking "Type R" stickers on their base model Integras and Civics, etc.

Hi Mike. Thank-you for your opinion. I already anticipate people nick-picking on the "AMG badge". I'm only putting it there as the car has AMG styling. I'm not posing as a full blown C63 AMG. I just like the clean look and AMG lettering. Modding is subjective and I'm happy to be driving a C300.

I love the clean look. Yours is probably the nicest C300 I've seen. So if you're cleaning it up by removing the emblems, including those that belong on the car, why then add an extra emblem that doesn't belong on the car if the goal is "clean".

When you add design bits, like the grille and tips, that suggest the car is a 450 or 63, then remove the outward signs its actually a C300, the intent obviously is to do some up-spec badge engineering. To go the extra step and buy an AMG trunk badge takes it to another, and IMO sadder level.

It's hugely disrespectful to the guys here who actually spend the money to buy and maintain legitimate AMG cars.

I did my S550 as an S63 AMG clone with wheels and a quad exhaust because I loved the look. But I left it badged as an S550. Big difference.

Anyway, aside from the badge I love your car and I'd like to see your experience on the forum to be a positive one. Obviously I don't speak for everyone here. Time will tell I guess.

Disrespectful? I'd say that's a bit much. If an AMG owner cares about badging on another member's car, they have some more serious issues. Is it tacky? In my opinion, a little. But I personally don't feel disrespected haha. I say to each their own. Everyone has different taste..

Personally curious about those AMG GTS 19" wheels mentioned on your list. Do you have pics of fitment with those?

I'm not sure how else to phrase it. Mods are of course subjective, and subjective opinions on appearance are a matter of taste. For example, someone might think a dropped car looks bad lowered. Someone else might love the look. Upspec badging is not subjective. The car either has an AMG model designation from Mercedes Benz, and the appropriate accoutrements, or it does not. Objective facts are not subject to one's taste.

Let's say you graduated from college squarely in the middle of your class. But when it comes to displaying your diploma in your office, you find a replica sticker on EBay that indicates you graduated *** laude from the school. When someone asks you about the fake honor, you demur and say you just liked the colors and design of the *** laude emblem.

Is that disrespectful to the people in your class who legitimately earned it? I'd suggest it is.

I have the wheels, but haven't mounted them on yet since it's summer.
They are 19x8.5 +45 and 19x8.5 +35 mounted Michelin Pilot Arctic Alpin PA4 235/40R19s. This set up is more aggressive than my current 19" AMG multi-spoke wheels. It'll be more flush with the fender. Fitment will be exactly the same specs as the C63.

Here's a photo of what it will look like. I can't wait until snowfall.

And, I agree with the AMG decal. I knew I would get negative comments about it. Art is subjective and I accept the criticisms. As long, as I'm happy with it, that's all that matters.

Okay. I guess it's "art" in the same sense that printing $1000 bills on a laserjet is a form of art. I suppose if you never plan on spending it but like people to see a fat roll of them in your pocket, what's the harm.

BTW, those aren't 19" AMG GTS wheels. They're 19" C63 wheels on the car in the picture, and if they're OEM, their offsets are not 45mm/35mm. Is it possible that, rather than 19" AMG GTS wheels, or C63 wheels, instead you just have a set of AMG style replica wheels? Those tend to run in non-OEM offsets like 35mm or 45mm to avoid infringement issues. I mean "art" issues.

I'm surprised you wouldn't want to go 18" for winter wheels. Car looks great, aside from the badge but I won't pile on.

Yes, they are replica wheels in ET35 and ET45 offsets. These are the ones that I got.

I was going to go with 18", but the prices in tires and wheels was not significantly more. And, I didn't find any 18" wheels that I liked. So, I went with this setup.

Believe it or not a lot of amg owners do consider it disrespectful. Well atleast the ones that post on the amg pl. If you are not a member of that forum, you should join it. I have lost a lot of respect for amg owners since I became a member there. I should have never joined lol.

I like the whole car. I don't own and AMG (can't afford ) so I don't really care about the bagging all that much. With that said, why the hell would you use the AMG replica wheels as your winter set? IMHO They look better then the stock 19's with a more aggressive offset. That's all I have to say about thaaat....

Car looks great, Enjoy!

P.S. I warn everyone about the springs (I had to pull mine off cuz the ride was awful) so I am curious if they are better on the C300 due to having less weight? My C400 felt like it was bottoming out the shocks all the time but it might be a different experience on that car.

I find it funny you are suggest placing a badge on a car is comparable to lying about a diploma.
And the disrespect thing is truly nonsense. Why does AMG.one owe a hypothetical AMG owner respect? It's his car if he wants to rebadge it as an AMG or a damn Ford Pinto he has every right to. This elitest BS I'm seeing on the forums about mods and badges is so amazingly stupid, it makes me question the intelligence of the AMG owners overall..

I was thinking, 'great looking car", which it is, until I saw the AMG badge. Not a fan of that.

The AMG trunk badge is reserved for full AMG vehicles. Even the C450 didn't qualify (although the C43, with only a transmission change from the C450, somehow does - thanks for keeping it confusing, MB). The C450 only got the small fender badges.
An AMG appearance package does not equal AMG vehicle. Sorry, but it's just posing as something it's not. Might as well put a C63 badge on it while you're at it.

It's great that you're comfortable with it, as long as you realize any knowlegable car guy will know you've "up-badged".

And of course, as soon as you start your engine, the whole illusion falls apart.

I'm not putting AMG badges on my car, but my floor mats came with AMG on them from mercedes with the sport package. So am I being disrespectful? If not, why is it ok to have AMG on the floor mats but not on the trunk?

I wonder how they feel about the AMG fender badges on my C450.

Because nobody will assume it's an AMG because of floormats. Hell put a bathroom mat in it if you want.
