What kind of MPG are you guys getting on the C450?
Hey guys so after 3155 miles and about 143 hours on my engine I am only averaging 14 mpg. Does that seem normal?
I got the OE tuning about 1000 miles ago but that only brought it down 0.5 mpg.
Mostly city driving and maybe 800 miles total freeway.

C450 Mileage
I made a trip to Pittsburgh 285 miles each way,of which 241 miles were pa turnpike.I averaged 28.6 mpg on the way out(some heavy rain and cross wind)and 30.1 mpg on the way home(clear & calm weather).I drove in comfort mode both ways.Very good mileage considering the performance of the C450.

To limit my hooliganism and traffic citation collection, Monday-Friday I'm usually running in Eco-Sport-Sport-Eco for my Individual engine-tranny-steering-climate control setting. Sport + on weekends with alot of hard, fast, & twisty driving. YOLO, I think is the term; gotta play a little bit once in a while.
So, on my last 40 mile highway run to a monthly meeting I attend (different locations/distances) I got it up to 29.2 mpg. Two months ago it only got up to 27.6 for about 30 highway miles. Not bad.
City driving in Eco seems to get me 18-21, maybe 22 mpg range depending on stop-start mode vs. driving with the A/C on.
Weekend Sport +? Down to around 14-15 city, as I always switch to full-on Eco for highway runs....mainly to not have to manual shift to 7th and to tighten the steering from Sport. (No, it's not that bad in Sport, but it seems to have me putting in noticeably too much effort on the highway when I'm trying to chill.)

Last 2 fill ups I have reset the computer to compare avg mpg to actual. Both were a mixture of about 75% city (25-45 mph) to 25% interstate (70 ish mph). First time computer says I averaged 24.1 mpg. Second time it said 23.6 mpg. Hand calculated showed 23.4 and 23.1 respectively. Most of the driving was in Comfort with a couple short stints of spirited driving in Sport +. Being that it showed within .5 mpg, it is by far the closest I've seen with cars that I've owned. My Dodge truck is consistently 3-4 mpg off. My previous Audi was always 1.5-1.75 off. My previous Ford was usually around 2 off. All of them would read high.

Wow I'm way off seems like I should be closer to 18mpg average. I'm gonna cool it on the sport + driving mode for a few weeks and see where it gets me.
Stopping for gas every 200 miles is just driving me nuts. Feels like every 3 days I'm in a gas station!

Averaging 23 mpg mostly rural driving with about 20% highway. With mostly highway driving achieving 29/30 mpg. Only 900 miles on odometer.

Okay you are all forgetting something, the meaning of "City Driving" or "Highway" varies from place to place.
In NYC city driving means averaging around 12 MPH, lots of stop and go and staying under 30 MPH. Someone else pointed out above their "version" of city driving involves MPH between 25-45 and highway with speeds around 70 MPH. Even on a highway in NYC you are likely only going between 30 MPH and 60 MPH you'll never have enough space to get above 60 MPH on most "highways" in NYC.
My W204 V6 consistently gets under 15 MPG because my average MPH is 13 according to the computer. The slower you are going the more gas you are burning up and the less distance you've traveled.
Sylvanism your screenshot shows you took a very short trip of 4 miles and stayed around 13 MPH, that MPG is accurate for that type of trip unfortunately.

How is performance? Have you noticed any oil consumption? With the OE tune your car should take off like a rocket. If it feels sluggish at all there may be something wrong. Might be worth a trip to the dealer.
Dumb question but I have to ask; you are only using premium gas right?

Are you in a warm climate? Is the engine start/stop enabled and working correctly? Do you do substantial idling in traffic or not? How does the C450's mileage compare with your previous vehicle?

My wife's uses the C450 as her DD for work and it's mostly stop and go through inner East Portland commuter traffic. I think her commute is about 6-8 miles. I'll try to set the trip OD and see what she is getting for mileage.

Your example of what is typical NYC stop and go driving in and around Manhattan and some of the other boroughs would produce similar results, if none of your driving included spots like the West Side Highway or other less congested roadways. So I think the only problem OP has with his vehicle is that his perception of what his realistic gas mileage should be while driving such a short distance under such conditions.
