LED headlight swap

Hey all, I just bought a 2017 C300 and the one thing I overlooked was the headlight upgrade. I currently have the standard headlights and would love to upgrade those to the LED lights, is this possible?

It's possible but very tough. Someone on the forum has done them but it took a great deal of effort. The headlights are one upgrade I tell anyone to not miss. I hate that Mercedes even lets you get halogen headlights on a 40k plus car. That was the first thing on any car I get. You can ask around your area if someone is able to do it, but it is gonna take a lot of money if you're not the one doing it.!

I have the halogen headlights also. Someone has the complete set of LED headlights on ebay for $1000. As far as I know it has a voltage regulator, a control module and a fan. I just dont' know if it is plug and play though. The plugs look exactly the same and I suspect that it is plug and play if you have the entire assembly. I think the plug only supplies the electricity. I just don't want to spend $1000 to discover that I'm wrong.

That's my question also, is the wiring harness the same? Like you, I've been able to find them online but I don't know if they are plug and play or not.

LEDs are not Plug and Play and easily switchable with halogen. Different wiring harness and programming.

thats the link to the guy who did it.

The lights are much more complicated then just powering them like you do in other cars. The led day light strip requires certain wattage and the computer in your car won't know that you have new lights. Read his posts and you will know why I was saying it's so complicated. He was just willing to do it himself and figure everything out.

From what I've learned, except for the high beams, they all require higher voltage than 12V. At least the DRL is 13.6V (it's stated on its label). So you'll need a stepup/stepdown module (on eBay) to regulate the voltage. And because the pins in the plugs are slightly different, you'll need to add one more pin to the plug. It's not too bad if you're patient and dedicated. But if you're the type who bring the car to the shop for everything, then don't do it.

definitelly not worth it.

might as well do a retrofit with custom LEDs.

check out planethid.com

some of these retrofits are much better than benz oem ones. Specially the morimoto hid kits are pretty good. I ran a set of morimotos for my old G35. went 5 years trouble free.

if it was plug and play, by all means yes. but knowing how complicated it is plus how expensive it is? then retrofit or keep as-is.

For me it's totally worth it. Makes the car look a whole lot better.

defintley worth it in my opinion as well. It's night and day when it comes to looks. Every car now days has its distinct drl and lights. Mercedes newer lights look amazing to me.

if you have a c300 with halogen, this is the simplest solution.
