My car does not have parktronic or distronic so what do the sensors on the front and rear bumpers do? Does MB just use the same parts for cars with or without those features and it's just the wiring/electronic systems that determine if you have those options?

Similarly, in the Multifunction Display in the gauge cluster, everyone has the Assistance Graphic screen with the image of the car's hood and surroundings, but it just doesn't do anything unless you have Distronic, etc?

Seems odd to have components of features that a car doesn't have, but perhaps it's more cost effective.

A fellow MB Buckhead customer. They gave me BY FAR the best deal in the Atl area. Mind if I ask what deal they worked with you? I'd be happy to share as well if you want.

I believe it's for the collision prevent assist functions

I figured that was the case for the front bumper sensors, but didn't know if there was a similar collision prevent assist for the rear. I've had the red light in the gauge cluster flash on before relating to a car in front of me slowing down and I hadn't braked yet. I guess it would do the same via the rear bumper sensors if a car was about to rear end me?

I really just ended up there because I wanted to test drive a C450 and used ones were very difficult to locate in the area. (I wanted a <10k mile used one). They had 3 C450 former demos that were for sale. Thought I was just going there to test drive because they weren't exactly optioned as I wanted. However, I had been on the used C450 hunt for about a month and wasn't finding exactly what I wanted (options/colors) and the transmission in my previous car had just gone out so I needed to do something quickly.

They ended up knocking off ~17% from the asking price so given my need for a car and experience looking on the market for awhile, I couldn't pass on the deal. I also live about 1/2 mile from the dealer so that was convenient as well to get there for maintenance, etc. Thought it'd be nice for the free car washes too, but I don't like their machine washes on my black paint so don't think I'll be using that perk anymore.

Ones in front are for collision assistance.. ones in back are blind spot sensors for side mirrors

The blind spot sensors are radar sensors hidden beneath the bumper cover was what I was told..

unrelated question.
i have an all black w205 in USA. I like how on lighter colors there is some black contrast breaking up the rear bumper look. On all black however there is none. On your car the lower cover is silver. Is that stock? Wonder if it's easy to wrap that in silver or maybe darker gunmetal cir.

Silver is on c450. C300 gets bodycolor rear diffuser.

Sounds like you have a C300. The C450 has the amg rear apron and diffuser. I would imagine that's a part that you could purchase and install on your W205, but not positive.

Yes, when the sensors detect an impending rear end collision, the vehicle tensions the seat belts, shuts the windows and sunroof, etc., and, if your vehicle is stationary sets the brakes (to prevent rear-ending the car ahead of you).
