2015 C400.
Dealer bought car in.
Only 1200 miles and only ever used as a loaner - sales man was surprised a fully loaded car would be a loaner but it's what it is!
Asking price is $46,995 but will have bumper to bumper warranty until late 2021 and free scheduled maintenance until end of 2019.
Attaching options. The only option it doesn't have (I don't think) is heads up display.

Using Kelly Blue Book prices in my area anywhere from $42000 to $47000. Would love all those options!! Warranty until 2021 is nice on a 2015 model. I would try $45k.

Go for it. Very nice ride and well equipped. If you are planning to purchase it, you should try to negotiate discounted MB extended warranty instead of dickering on price. See if you can get the CPO warranty extended for free. That would cover you for 5yr/100,000mi.

It had a 5 year unlimited mile warranty, but that started when the vehicle was register, which left under 3 years left.
I told them that this now made the deal less attractive.
They said if I bought they would throw in an additional 2 years, still with unlimited miles - a $3500 option - hence the unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty until November 2021.
So I'm not sure I could haggle much further as the car is so heavily optioned sounds like it's price of $46,595 is within the right space?
I'm putting down half in cash and they can give me 1.99% interest for UpTo 72 months with no early payoff penalties. Almost free cash.
I have to remember it only has 1200 miles too!
So, sounds like a good deal??
I just hope the car is well built and reliable, there's a few unhappy C300 owners with rattles and other issues which concerns me a little.
It's not the usual car I'd buy, I've been driving Porsche/BMW M cars so I'm hoping it can still handle twisty roads with confidence on high performance tires? I know it's more of a luxury car, but I hope it's not a boring ride. I like the many mountain twisties here in Colorado, I still like to enjoy the drive. Why cares about straight line speed if it's sloppy on curves!
Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the suspension if I want better performance given its got that air suspension option? Or is that a complicated job? I wouldn't have chosen that option, I just need to know if it makes changing the suspension a huge hassle or just not possible?
Thanks guys!

Is the Dinan chip authorized by MB and won't void warranty?
What's the performance improvement? Is it that one offering 50hp? If so, seems pretty tame when similar ECU upgrade option for BMW 335i deliver closer to 100hp with ease.

Fair enough, I'll check it out if I get the car. Virtually undetectable isn't good enough (at least for me) if it risks void of 5 year bumper to bumper warranty for a few extra HP.
Funny, I don't recall being called "dude" since I think my earlier years on STi forums....Lol.

Ok, Mr. Spy(we've not been introduced), here is the meat of the coconut: do whatever you want, but it'll be up to MB to show misuse or abuse, causally connected with....
Keep in mind that the 2917 Coupe has the same engine with more boost than the c450.

Nice to meet you CFG.
Just like you, I will do what I want with my cars and weigh the risks vs the rewards. I appreciate the info regarding the 2917 coupe/C450 engines being the same so sounds like MB would have issue defending a warranty claim void. But if course that would likely involve getting a lawyer and we all know that these large German corporations have very good lawyers and very deep pockets and will always draw things out. I'll simply ask the service department of its an approved option, BMW are fine with Dinan.
Hoping to get some feedback on my other questions regarding the air suspension, vehicle quality/reliability and fun factor. Again, I'm not expecting it to be anything close to an M3, but I'd still like it to be close (albeit less) to say a 335i in terms of cornering confidence.
Cheers.

Thought I'd provide an update for anyone else wondering if they could change from the air suspension on any C-class to say the AMG suspension or aftermarket equivalent.
It can't be removed. Period.
For me that's a deal breaker as I know within a year I'll be looking to do that. I would never have chosen that option, 90% of all reviews advised against it.
I think for me the C43 AMG or a non air suspension vehicle is the way to go.
Thanks for everyone's input.

The reviews against it weighed cost vs. benefit, and since the reviewers preferred the firmer AirMatic setting (Sport) anyway, they recommended buyers save the $1100 and just get a standard steel sport suspension. Most reviews are by performance enthusiasts so that sentiment isn't surprising.
The value in AirMatic is the flexibility. For example you can do a Plus One on wheels and retain the same ride quality. You can also do a drop on AirMatic very easily and inexpensively, vs replacing coil springs.
On the forum, I've yet to hear from any owners who regret getting the adjustable suspension. There are plenty though who got steel and are unhappy with it.
On a new car, where you're paying every dollar for an option, maybe you pass on Air or whatever. On a used car, where it's costing you a fraction of its price, I'd snap it up.
From a performance standpoint though the 400 is more a luxury cruiser with good power. If you're already thinking about a chip and suspension mods then I think you're on the right track with a C43/450.
It's a little Frankenstein, with the same TTV6 but tuned (and warrantied) with an AMG tuned exhaust and an almost exact version of the C63's electronic suspension and brakes. Ride is firm, bordering on punishing depending on road conditions.
The guys on the forum who have the 43/450 universally love them. I don't think I've seen anyone who has one ever expressing regret.
It's really a question of picking the right C for you, since there are several versions and each does it's own thing well.

Make sure you check the car over very well and ask if all recalls were performed. I personally think the airmatic is worth it. I don't have it in my C400 and some days I am not up for the sport suspension which can be jarring. Seems like a pretty good price. Mine had 11k and is not fully loaded. I paid 37k

i wouldn't drop 47k on a used C class, it is a nice car and all but go get a brand new 2017 E class which is way better than the C class you want to get and it will only cost 5k more and it will be a 2017 with original manufacture warranty....or atleast LEASE the C class you talking about...but hey thats just my opinion..

still an E class > C and nothing wrong w 4 cylinder E you save mileage. If u want a faster car bigger cylinder engine go get a coupe SL or E coupe . Sedan C and E or S is not made for racing bro its made for class and luxury and comfort. (Unless its an Amg)

LOL^. A little harsh but still true when applied to the E or the GLC. For the lighter Cs I don't agree. I have driven a C300 as a loaner when our C450 was in for service. It was a fun car and still an enjoyable ride.
The E class however, weighs about 4000lbs and is way underpowered when equipped with the 240hp 4cyl engine. The main reason the new Es are so cheap is because they neutered the power plant. If MB wants to put a 4cyl in the E then they need to follow Volvo's lead by tuning and supercharging it.

The 4cyl motor in the W205 sounds and performs better than most of the other 4cyl models that I've driven. The N26 is no better with respect to the "wheezy" characteristic you describe. Last I checked, "lumpy" wasn't a feature found in any physics or engineering manuals, at least none that I've read.:/

Ha, ha, it is still crap. Sure, it's my opinion, but we ain't doing metaphysics, here.
Comparing one turd to another qualitatively still leaves you with a turd, even if it is the best turd of the lot.
To me, it sounds like an asthma patient, and runs like a small dog trying to crap a peach seed.
