Phone mount, the BEST one yet

While I am a newbie on this forum, I have been on other inferior cars forums plenty.
After lurking for a while I decided to contribute with my solution to the best mount for the W205.
to make a long story short, this "CD mount" works amazing in the only trim imperfection I found in the C300 (2015 with a gurgle between gears yo!).
its this one (been using for 4 months now)
Amazon Amazon

And it looks like this with the iPhone 7 Plus
The gap between the aluminum and the Pleather dash fits perfectly
At night seems like the S class split screen with NAV.
Also note, I ran the charger cable under the console trim and it sticks out just at the location of the phone. the cable ran from the rear seat 12v outlet all the way there, so the front console cover can be closed.
The supplied metal plates I just put in the cover of the iPhone without gluing to the actual phone.
Yes I picked this AVB album and Climate screen on purpose.

Funny, I was just thinking today about how I would never need to use the CD player

I think I may give this a try

The CD location for the mount blocks some control buttons, while locating it next to the screen is absolutely perfect.

Have you ever gone over a rough road or big pothole and had it slip off?

I've used magnetic mounts before and haven't had an issue but it was more expensive so may have been stronger. This seems like a bargain at 20 bucks. Good reviews on amazon

This thing is solid!
Huge potholes thanks to City of Philadelphia, stayed on even after I dropped from two metal plates to 1.
I know the ones you are referring to, this thing is a very strong magnet.

Cool! When I was in France I saw a W205 taxi that had an iPhone mounted in that exact position as I walked by. Until now I couldn't figure out how he did it and the placement looked perfect, now I have an answer!

Am I correct in assuming you just wedge it into that spot? Hard to tell since I can't see it from a side angle since it's a CD mount or do I have the wrong product link?

Yes, just edge it in, it catches very firmly.
I did check to see if there is "long term damage", but no, it just goes back to its original shape. Press the clamp all the way, push into the wedge, and let go.

Bought this mount last week and have been using it in the CD slot. I'll have to try this location as I worry the prongs may warp the plastic lining the slot.

Unfortunately it doesn't fit in my car. The gap isn't big enough at that location.
I have the carbon fiber trim with red stitched mb-tex just for your reference. So perhaps it works better on other trims.

I think you need the smaller (non COMAND) screen to have enough room.

I didn't even notice it wasn't a screen with the multimedia pkg that @notfastatall installed it on.

I'll have to look for another solution. :|

My criteria for a mount is vehicle specific, with a tool-less install, and a cradle with an integrated power adapter. I want to be able to set the phone into the cradle with one hand and have it connected for charging/audio via USB, rather than setting it in the cradle and fishing around for the cable, and I don't want to see cable running across the dash or console. For that the best solution is the ProClips custom W205 tool-less mount and a swivel cradle with integrated Lightning connector. Very clean install, wire can be easily hidden. Not cheap but worth it IMO.

Completely agree. There is another thread (should likely be merged) on the topic where I posted pictures as well.

Yep, this won't fit in the gap with the Command package. Even with a smaller screen, the gap between the aluminum and leather dash isn't there to insert the prongs.

While fishing around, I realized that the gap on the side of the glove compartment door is a perfect gap. A little further to the right than most want, but I don't look at my phone very often anyways.

I suspect those with COMAND and the mbtex/leather stitched dash will be out of luck. Enough space for low spec cars it seems.

Thank you for reminding me never to get the "Low Spec" MB ever again.
I am not being cynical either, the interior quality is a far cry from what "Normal" should be in this car.
