Adding PDC
I'm still looking into get the AMG front and rear bumpers and there's a pretty good deal for the full kit including sideskirts on ebay but its with PDC. I was thinking I'll just have the body shop smooth it out and cover them up but got to thinking, why not just add the PDC sensors.
Has anyone retroed the PDC kit to their C-Class? We had the front and rear sensors on my wife's A3 and they were a great help in addition to the camera, especially the front sensors. |

Nope, the US spec C300 doesn't come standard with PDC, well at least it didn't in 2015. Only backup camera.

I had to look up PDC to realize it meant parking sensors :D

It completely baffles me as to why parking sensors are not standard on these cars.
I checked with the dealership and they said $800 for a 2016 C300. |
It is here

Some other options I feel should be standard on the C Class are ventilated seats (in front), and addition of the powered trunk opener/closer. Mercedes also needs to beef up it's software/hardware offerings, like adding the activation of the heated seats & outside mirrors on a cold morning remote start. The Mercedes Benz slogan of "The best or nothing" should mean just that. |
Yeah its weird. My '15 A3 had front and rear sensors standard. But then again the C class has other things that that car didn't have. So win some, lose some.
So any ideas of the electronics for the sensors are there in the wiring, just need to plug them in? |

Would prefer parking sensors to rear-view camera
A few years ago, I rented a VW Passat in Germany. A Passat is a big car for Germany, so I would often have to deal with the only available parking space having no more than six inches of spare room, front and year. Also, the residential streets are so narrow that you have to park no further than a inch from the curb. German drivers are masters of getting into and out of such spaces, so they show no mercy if they catch you even touching their car!
The VW had parking sensors. Unlike a rear-view camera, they protected all four corners, and I never had any trouble. A rear-view camera is great when backing out of a supermarket parking space, but it is not necessary (at least when parked next to sedans). A luxury car should have both. |
