Also coming over from BMW
Greetings all. I'm currently leasing a BMW 428xi and will be transitioning to a Mercedes C300 4MATIC sedan when my BMW lease expires in April 2018.
I've extensively test driven various 2017 C300 4MATIC coupes and sedans and loved them all. I'm leaning towards a C300 4MATIC sedan with the Luxury Package but have heard rumors that Mercedes will be discontinuing the C300 sedan with the Luxury Package beginning with the 2018 model year.
If anyone can substantiate this rumor or point me to a resource for 2018 Mercedes C300's I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Welcome. So the Lux package is essentially cosmetic, with a couple of exceptions:
The suspension height is higher, softening the ride, and the 17" wheels soften it further.
There are some interior colors and trims unique to the Lux.
If you're not a fan of the AMG Sport package (also primarily cosmetic, but with a firmer ride due to a lowered suspension and 18" wheels) and can't find a Lux, the Base car with AirMatic and 17" wheels would serve the same purpose, and the cosmetic differences are minor. Plus the Base is a little cheaper.

They seem to be evening out now that the W205 is in year three of production. I know a couple of people who've had serious engine problems (timing chain issue you see on forums for one of them, awful build quality for another) with their F3x cars. It's a crapshoot.

I've learned to accept that for Mercedes the C is a mass produced economy car (as is the BMW 3-4). They don't design or build them with the care they put into their premium products, like the S. Mainly because buyers at the $100k price point won't tolerate wheezing engines, interior rattles or a stiff ride.
Ideally a 205 would be every bit as good as a scaled down, less expensive 222 but unfortunately that's not the case. I like the C for what it is and I enjoy driving it but in my mind I don't think of it as a "real" Mercedes. I've actually owned a few "real" ones, and for my next car I'll probably be hunting down another.
For the same money, a CPO 221 S or 216 CL would give you a much better handle on what Mercedes is capable of when budget isn't an over riding priority.

This pile doesn't even compare to my first four, an MG b, way back when. And, nobody claimed that was a smooth engine.
You can guild a turd, but underneath....
