What do you pay for insurance ?
I live In NY and my insurance went up $160 for 6 months coming from a 2014 BMW 4 series coupe (sticker $55,600) to a 2016 C300 sedan (sticker $52,090)
I would think the C300 should be the same or less being it's a sedan that stickers for less then the BMW coupe. Also no other parameters have changed, same address, no tickets, etc.. This is only the car, no second auto, no home, which was the same as the BMW.
What are other people paying in NY?

Well... sounds like good timing to check prices on the web for other carriers for lower rates... like it's not the 1st time a insurance company raised rates 3yrs down the road for a existing customer on their new car... or do you think you're the 1st ?

Carriers are always evaluating whether they have everybody slotted correctly. Sometimes they change their underwriting guidelines to reapportion risk. So a driver who may have been in ultra preferred now finds himself, through no fault of his own, in preferred or even standard.
The carriers understand that they'll lose some insureds in the process. That may have happened in your case. Or, the repair incidence and cost history on the Benz are higher than the BMW.
Most carriers let you test quote replacing one car with another to see the impact on premium before you buy the new car. At this point go to Progressive.com and use their quote tool. It'll give you their rate and the rates of the other major carriers. Might find a better deal.

I'm with farmers insurance and pay 74$ a month with perfect record and I'm 36 married no kids and 800+ credit score. These are all factors they use. I was with state farm nothing bad to say about them but I was paying 92$ a month same info as above. And b4 that was with American family. They are awesome at getting things handled when they arise but at $141 a month I mean come on what a joke. Moral of the story shop around it will pay off.
Also I have 2015 c300

GEICO
$105/month
Metro-Boston area
24 y/o
No tickets or points on license
819 credit score
P.S. Got my car in NY, although I initially registered and insured it in Delray Beach, FL and price was 190/month, even though was "garage kept" in a gated community, etc. Chalk it up to old terrible drivers in FL? Was shocked that my quote for MA insurance was so much lower. Also, when I shopped around recently after an accident this past fall, all other companies were quoting me around $225/month.
A few years back in college in upstate NY, I had a GTI and my monthly insurance rate was only $50 less than the lease payment ($300 and $350, respectively) so I certainly won't complain about my current rate!

Let's see. 5 cars on the policy. One 23 year old driver, one 21, my wife and myself. A new Audi Q7, the Mercedes, a VW CC, a Scion FRS, a new Mazda 3 for my daughter to practice on now and drive in October (she's not on the policy yet). $250,000/$500,000 BI, $100,000 PD, $250,000/$500,000 UM Stacking x 5, runs me around $800 a month. Young drivers + a few expensive cars + high limits. One at fault accident on the CC a few years back. No tickets otherwise.

$1,377 per year for both my 2016 C450 and my wife's 2017 Jaguar R-Sport 35t AWD through Travelers Insurance.
Best state driver's ratings for both of us (knock on wood!), and we both have 800+ credit ratings
Bundled with our home insurance
$1,000 deductibles on collision (w/waiver of deductible) & comprehensive...both vehicles are paid for
100,000/300,000 coverage for the rest

36, single no kids in NY.
currently have 9 points on license for 3 prior speeding ticket convictions dating from the last one which was in 2011. no violations since.
$238 a month full cover with geico.
progressive quoted me $370 due to speeding ticket records.
All state quoted me $388
just waiting until end of this year when the records should hopefully vanish.
All in all, i got 7 speeding ticket convictions in the last 10 years. this was a conbination of a tuned nissan maxima, a midly tuned g35 and a 2000 cobra svt.
No more speeding for me, i keep it under 80 now.
cost of insurance is main reason i did not get a porsche cayman, jaguar f type or bmw m4.
