2014 CLA 250
C300 Turbo Upgrade - Partner Needed

Hey All,

Not sure if you have seen what we have done with the CLA 250 (https://mbworld.org/forums/cla-coupe...rade-here.html), but we are looking to give the C300 2.0T the same treatment.

If there is anyone in the CT, MA, RI or NY area looking to partner with us on this journey. Hit us up

Thanks

Sounds good, we just made 350HP with our CLA 250, so I would expect similar results on the C300

Just need someone willing to let us have the car while we build / test it.

If you are looking for a C43 to work on a turbo upgrade for the 3.0 Biturbo v6 I would be all over this!

We have been talking with AMR about this in length. The consensus so far is that the engine has to be removed to get to the turbos. Not sure how realistic that would be as a "bolt on" upgrade for the customer to tackle. Plus, AMR has a 3.0TT for us to do so if we decide to move forward. Now, C63 has the Hot V set up, so the turbos are front and center and easy to get to. We'd love to see what we could do with one of those!

The AMR guys are great. I have personally installed downpipes on my c43 and I bet you can get to the turbos from underneath the car with the splash shields removed. It is tight on the sides of the turbos for sure. Just food for thought-there are a lot of tuners working on stuff for the c63, but not many for the c300, c450 and c43. It's an untapped market of hungry buyers looking for a company to produce products for their platforms. I wish you guys the best of luck and am excited to see what you release!

Thanks! We definitely want to help fill in that line up. I'll have another powwow with AMR and see if something on the 3.0TT is possible.

In the meantime, any C300 guys looking for 300+ HP?

I think there's definitely interest and i'd probably have offered up mine if it wasn't my daily driver. I think the issue is that many are lease or daily drivers like mine so it's hard to find people who can part with them. Lord knows i'd be happy with 350ft-lbs of torque if you could get it there.

Could be too soon on the platform since as you say, many are leased and or daily's. We going to be building a turbo upgrade for the CLA45, maybe once we are done with that, the C300 market will be ready. Thanks for the feedback!

if you can figure out an easy way to upgrade the c450/43/400, you would definitely have a market there. and those cars would be quick!!

Interesting thread, just wanted to add to this.

The turbo replacement on the bi-turbo v6 in the 205 is done from the top but with the engine in the car. The left side requires removing an a/c line so you need to discharge the a/c system and such, but other than that, it's a lot of lines and heat shields but it comes out. Warranty replacement time is in the area of 7 hours, so at customer pay numbers it would be over 10 hours of labor. Not a simple replacement like the CLA, and about double of what it takes to do a turbo on a C300.

Wow-this is very very interesting information. As one of the worries i had was if the engine had to be removed to do a turbo upgrade. Are you a mercedes tech by chance?

Well now, this does change things. We have been under the impression the motor had to be removed. We had not pursued it any further to see for ourselves, but figured it would be a no go for most customers. Do you have a 450?
