7g vs 9g tronic
Hi guys
So it looks like the new 9 speed transmission came out just after i purchased my new 2016 c class which comes with the old 7 speed transmission.
What are the major differences? Would i be hitting the ground after the new 9g trans?
Any feedback's would be much appreciated

It seems acceleration wise the gains are marginal, but the gearing seems to be more aggressive to assist with that 0-60 measure.
As far as the slushbox itself, I had the 7G in the CLS I traded for the 43', and I can say that when driving normally the gears come rather quickly and it almost feels as too many. I have also noticed that it is not as refined as it should be specially 1st gear.
These are just personal observations.

edit: it's true for the 7g.

All the 4cyl cars with 7g use 1st gear in comfort. All of the 6 and 8cyl cars with 7g start in 2nd gear while in C. I haven't driven a 4cyl with the 9g yet.

My 2013 4 cyl S204 C250 CDI 4Matic uses 2nd gear in Economy mode and 1st gear in Sport mode.

I have driven the 9spd in a C300, GLC300, and E300. I don't think it's worth losing a ton of money over. I was toying with the same idea and trading up to a C43 to get the 9spd but I would lose so much money for a slight improvement. It is however an improvement in a couple ways. The shift points are smoother but obviously more frequent. No bumpy 2nd in to 3rd gear. Someone mentioned above that it seems a little weird to hear/feel that many gear changes and I sort of agree. Still, if I could switch with a small payment difference I would do it.

2020 GLC300 4matic, 2017 C300 4matic
7g 0-60 6 seconds
9g 0-60 5,8 seconds
not a huge difference. Also on freeway while driving at 85 mph with 7g your engine will go around 2500 rpm, with 9g probably 2000-2100 rpm. Little quiter and better economy.
