Carplay retrofit.. Anybody tried this?
Just stumbled upon this link after looking for any new info on retrofitting carplay on W205. https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/brun...ice/1159329393
Looks a little pricey, but probably the only time I've seen a picture of carplay ACTUALLY running on a w205. |
just patiently waiting for mercedes to offer the genuine update for all w205.

There are retrofit options available with aftermarket which will be a fraction of the cost of what Mercedes will charge IF they EVER offer it.
There is a wireless version of the CarPlay AND (wired) Android Auto version available now. I tried it and it works well! No need to plug in your lightning cable anymore. There's an ebay auction here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303121978375 , however you can message the seller directly for a discounted price (no ebay fees): djfrestyler@aol.com. Include you VIN number for exact pricing. Price is ~$500-$600, depending on your Screen option SardinCar has a newer cabled version (also CarPlay and Android Auto) available which works 10x better than the old version too. A friend has that in his C-Class and that also works great! It's a bit cheaper than the wireless version ~$425. You can message a US reseller for that version at sardincarusa@gmail.com |

Ok.... So I've been wanting to add Carplay to my C300. I've googled and looked at a number of articles about it and I'm still not totally clear. My car is Nav ready, but did not have the smartphone Integration package. I sent by the dealer and Picked up the kit I'd seen mentioned in my searches part # A2468203800. I get home and get ready to put it in, and notice this doesn't have the SD card nor does it look the right size. It is a bit smaller. So, I mainly would like to use the steering wheel controls for Siri. Making calls is a real pain if you are trying to stay hands free. I'm not opposed to an aftermarket option. I don't care about stock navi as I'd rather use googlemaps or Waze. I'm going to take that smartphone integration package back tomorrow. Any ideas?

A long push on the steering wheel button gives you the ability to make hands free calls on stock C300s. Just say, call Joe Blow
