something really strange happened after car wash

Hi,

Something really strange happened to my car today. I took my mercedes c220 amg line (2016) into a drive through car wash, as the car was comming out the other end , I tried to restart the engine but the car just wouldn't start. The car started rolling and it felt like I lost the brakes for a few seconds, the hang brake wouldn't engage either. The steering wheel was also locked but after presssing the brake really hard the car did eventually stop. After 20 seconds i tried restarting the car and it started working normally again. The car wash attendant decided to tell me after the incident that as the car is keyless entry, I should of left the car engine running. Any ideas why this happend?

I've had the car for less then a month.

Hi, Yes this is my first keyless go merc. This is a serious floor with the car as the car could of potentially rolled out on to a main road. I thought I was going mad when I couldn't stop the car.I will remember to take the button out next time.

What affect does removing the button have? Why not just leave the engine running and leave it in neutral? Thanks!

I’ve never removed the button. What is the supposed purpose of that?

The OP didn't read the manual and therefore didn't follow the instructions...
