Garmin Map Pilot - migrate from 16 GB SD card to 32 GB

Hi everybody.
Wonder if anybody has some tip for migrating my 16 GB SD card to newer 32 GB card.

This is what I've tried:
  1. Updated my original sd card via download manager from v2.4 -> v6.0
  2. Download manager now says that my card is up to date – which I guess it is not !
  3. My original SD card is a 16 GB card and this seem to be the reason why download manager cannot do any further updates
  4. Therefore I am trying to make a new 32 GB SD card to work.
    - format new SD card with ’exFAT’ format like the original
    - copy all content of original card to new card (incl. All hidden files)
  5. Download manager is now able to update 32 GB card from v6.0 -> v10.0 and everything seems to be ok according to download manager.
  6. Inserting the card into my car gives an error saying that data are corrupt.
Strange as download manager says that everything is ok.
  7. I've even tried inserting the 32 GB card before upgrading with exactly same content as my original card - and here my cars gives following error: "Update Cards are not supported"
The card is not completely rejected, actually the car is trying to read it.
Any ideas anybody ?

The software is connected to SD card serial number, in the normal way is not possible to copy software to another card. However it is possible but not legal, you need Linux experience and only one brand of card allows for this change . Try to look in web for CID number change.

A gaggle of MB's
Yeh - I have a solid tip - go on eBya for your year/model - find a reliable vendor to sell you a Version 8.1 or 8.2 for your MB - "should" be about $175...

I had the same problem and I resolve it with my dealership. They gave me new sd card because there was a problem with updating 16gb card - there is not enough space for an update. I'm talking about system or gui update, not map update because we don't have free map update, only interface.

Changing cid is very complicated, you have to buy 32gb samsung card from amazon with specific model/serial number (if they have it), and you can't be sure that you will get that sd card. Also, you need Linux because card name is too long for win, etc..

Simply c/p is not possible, it will be too easy.

So go to your dealership and tell them that you find on mercedes forums that few owners had same problem and dealerships gave them new sd cards.
