Battery Benz W205, buy a new battery, what, how much, where, when ?
Hello,
Have you changed you C-class main battery yet ? After how many years ? And how much did you pay it ?
Is it always cheaper somewhere else or prices are similar at the dealer ? Can we find the same good battery as original (or better?) if not buying at Benz ?
I am wondering because after few years I still didn't change this battery, do I need to worry ? Or did I understand well that thanks to the auxiliary battery the car will still start to allow me to drive somewhere to buy a new battery ?
Thank you for your knowledge !

Your W205 doesn't have a auxiliary battery exactly - it has a large capacitor/can that stores enough to keep settings etc when battery is disconnected from the system.
Please understand MB dealer prices for replacement battery vary widely from region-to-region - and can vary widely between different dealers in your area.
Also - Roadside Assistance prices to replace the main battery can vary widely between region-to-region - and can vary widely within a region depending on what crew/dealer/3rd-party got selected to come out for you>
Your "original" battery is a Mercedes branded Varta-made 70AH AGM battery - some "claim" but not verified a Varta 80AH is the same dimension/fit .

All the replacement batteries on my cars (yes even my 911) are from Walmart, they are easily one-third the price of the dealer and carry as good or better warranty so if I have to replace them every 3 years then so be it.

Please understand - 70AH AGM calls out the specs/capacity/type for the battery - but not all 70AH AGM batteries are the same dimension or same terminals - so look before you leap so-to-speak.

hello, battery needed soon, can someone tell me what will happen if I let it die ?
Can I start the car thanks to the capacitor ? (that replaces auxiliary battery on W205)
And can I change the battery myself or do we really need Benz dealer to reset something ?
Thank you for your help.

When main battery dies - you will not be able to start - then you will need to "jump" start and turn off ECO - if your qualify under MB Roadside Assistance use them - if you are jumping yourself - remove key - remove Keyless Go button before connecting up - or you can fry your ignition security system....

Thank you so much, but what is the use of the capacitor (or auxiliary battery) if it cannot start the engine when the main battery dies ?
thanks again.

In the W205 V6 there is a battery which is located on the right side of the car just behind the front bumper. You need to remove the bumper to get to it. There is no capacitor in the W205 but maybe in the C300 but not sure about that.

Original part number is A0045418601. Has anyone replaced it with Varta E39 (570 901 076)?
MB dealership quoted $418 for the battery and $172.8 for labor, so it's $590.80.
Autobarn (chain auto store in Australia) is doing 30% off battery sales right now and they are selling Varta E39 for $349 (normally $500) and they'll install it for free.
I'm leaning towards going to Autobarn but is there anything that I should be aware of?

what did you end up getting? And how is it going?
my c250 bluetec is 6years old now and my 2nd battery isn’t holding the charge. Been using Varta from the dealership but you know how that goes.
keen for your reply.
thanks

Hello, I need to replace the battery of my MB C200 W205, year 2017
Unfortunately in Chile they do not sell "Varta" brand batteries, which is what the car has installed from the factory.
Does anyone know how to identify if a battery works for cars with Star / Stop system?
I want to buy a Bosh battery with the same amps and the same CCA. But i need to be sure.
Thanks a lot!

Also mine is diesel, which requires more CCA but the BOSCH S6 DIN LN4 has the same rating.
Its easy to access the battery, so just check the current model in your engine bay.
Hope that helps.

you just need to find a battery with the same AMP or Higher or you can order a battery online and have it shipped but you should do the first things.
