center console cup holder flap
 

Hi guys strange problem, the other day i closed the cupholder cover flap and it wouldn't open again, then after a short drive it popped open and now it wont close, i did slip the fake black piano wood part off and i did see a loose metal clip, i cant see where it goes or what it does im thinking this is the culprit behind my troubles, any one know how these things work? any help is greatly appreciated.

On a side note a 1996 w202 is built at least 10x better.

Hi I have the same problem on my w205 did you get this sorted and if so could you let me know how?

There must have been something that slipped behind as the cupholder cover swings behind then up.

I second something small stopping the flip up and close mechanism.
