Upgrading the Burmester sound system
Hello all first time forum user for Mercedes, I scrolled a bit and couldn’t really find anything on this I have a C300 W205 with the premium sound system but if I’m being honest very unimpressed, I play a lot of EDM and the speakers constantly make cracking noises and cannot handle the vocals of most songs, I was just wondering if anybody else has this problem and if so how to fix it? I’ve messed with the settings of the speakers and no luck, I am using Spotify as my music source and have the streaming quality up to extreme so I wouldn’t think it’s the quality of the songs that’s causing it, if possible I want to upgrade these speakers if there is no other way to fix this. Please let me know if you guys have any advice on what I should do.

Seriously, if the music you listen needs the volume cranked all the way to 26, Burmester won't cut it. You'll need a system designed for you car.

Your work has been done for you by Mike5215. He led a long, long thread that detailed his research and eventual install of an upgraded Burmester system. Mike5215 posts to many, many threads, and I can't locate that thread. However, he wrote up his work and posted it to a web page, Upgrading The Burmester Audio In the 2015+ Mercedes C Class. The original article is at the bottom of the page. Later articles have been added above the original article. Mike5215 concluded that just replacing the speakers is not enough. The Burmester equalization has to be replaced!
This defective equalization shows just what a fraud Mercedes and Burrmester have played on Mercedes owners. Somewhere in the MBWorld thread, someone remarked that, since none of the audio components in the W205 are by Burmester, the most that Burmester contributed to the system (other than their name) was the final adjustment, meaning the very equalization that must be replaced!

[left]I’m so dissatisfied with this system I’m rejecting the car! It’s been in with Mercedes 3 times trying to rectify the crackles and they can only do so much. We all know it’s just a poor system. I came from the bang and olufsen in the Audi which is so superior it’s embarrassing that they call this a premium system.
