Driving Modes for my W205 (fuel efficiency question)
I switched from a W204 which only had the 'Sport' and 'Economy' option. In the city where it has more traffic lights, I go with the 'Sport' as I can start from gear 1 and save gasoline as I don't have to hit the gas too much as I do on the econ mode. I use my econ when it is just in a constant speed in the highway.
I am not sure if it works the same for the W205, and if someone would confirm that the 'Sport' and 'Sport+' would be better for traffic lights in the city and 'Econ' or 'Comfort' for the freeway.
Kinda confusing in this part though, but which one is better for long distance in the freeway when it comes to speed? Shouldn't it be sport to hit a top speed? But I learned that sport is better in traffics and comfort for freeways?

In Economy mode, while doing mixed driving to work over a 20 mile distance, I can hit 31-32mpg whereas in Comfort I would typically get 27-28mpg. I wouldn't even attempt to get that in Sport or Sport+. I will say though, on the highway, I get better economy in Comfort than Economy mode. I tried this driving between my home and Foxwoods Casino in CT, which is about 140 miles. In Comfort i've easily hit 32mpg driving out there, and the highway has numerous inclines. In Economy I found the engine was straining and dropping gears and I only got around 28-29mpg. Experimentation will prove what's the best mode for you.

My mistake, Eco mode it should be. Had it come on a few times on my way back from Cardiff on the M4. That was the first time I averaged 30+ mpg. I'm generally about 19-21 mpg. Now I need to go fill the tank again...

I only switch to Sport + mode for fast highway driving (no traffic). I've noticed that sport + will not switch out of 2nd and 3rd gears until you hit 4000 RPM.
If I am driving slowly behind another vehicle in 3rd, the engine sounds really weird like it wants shift, but can't since I haven't reached 4000 rpm. (wasting gas)
It doesn't sound normal to me. Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Sport mode needs to be at 3500 to shift.

It is normal in Sport+. The point of Sport+ is not to dilly dally around, it's to mash the pedal and go fast. In that instance if your trans is shifting every .5 second like it does in comfort or eco, you wont go anywhere. Your car doesn't need reset, drive it appropriately for the mode you're in.
